Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Dubbo

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a little break. We have a few competitive races at Dubbo today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – KENNARDS MINE SITE CG&E MAIDEN 1120m

Track conditions out west are not great, with a churned heavy 10. The opening race does feature some runners who are tried and tested on a heavy track, and the one that has shown the most promise is Matchfox. The classy Foxwedge runner has been there abouts at this range and has placed all three attempts on a heavy surface. Can make that step today. You can never look past a Your Song gelding on debut, in The Nutter, from what has been seen, this horse has a very powerful gait and shouldn’t be too encumbered by the track conditions today. Jake Pracey-Holmes has the value runner of the day here on What Diddy Say. Third and a fourth last two respectively, main question mark here is can he handle to the heavy.

Top Pick – Matchfox
Next Best – The Nutter
Longshot – What Diddy Say

TOP PICK

Race 2 – KENNARDS HIRE DUBBO F&M MAIDEN 1120m

In Good Health maps as the one to beat here and, the market reflects this. Last race was super impressive when flashing home for a second. Has a tougher assignment here today, especially to replicate that run on today’s churned surface. Will need to find that next gear to get it done here. Arnault is another to watch here today. Running in good form and will look to get to the front on a track that will have a front running bias. Expected to go well here. Have to include Maniototo in this one, the runner out of Street Cry should be able to make the step up in these conditions, drawn well and will look to sit off the lead horses. If the favourite gets into trouble, Maniototo could easily capitalise.

Top Pick – In Good Health
Next Best – Arnault
Longshot – Maniototo

TOP PICK

Race 3 – KENNARDS MINE LIGHTING MAIDEN 1420m

Stomp should have won its last race, but, ultimately fell short, has an easier group here today, biggest question mark for the mare here is the track conditions, untested on heavy. If she can find her best here, she will be hard to beat. Another untested on heavy here, is Gaze Beyond, interesting type that can hit the line hard as seen in last run, when coming from near last to finish a close second. One to include. Elusive Valley is the value runner in this race here, can mix form at times, but, in what can be an open affair here with a lot of midfield and back markers having a tough run due to track conditions, if Elusive Valley can produce the fastest of the back bunch, could get the win here.

Top Pick – Stomp
Next Best – Gaze Beyond
Longshot – Elusive Valley

TOP PICK

Race 4 – KENNARDS NEW ZEALAND BENCHMARK 66 1620m

Not For Export has been tested seven times on heavy and struck a place on five occasions. Last start can be forgiven when boxed out and faded on the straight. Not For Export will look to drop back early and then come on late, has the ability here. Assurity drops significantly in class today, gets the hot provincial jockey, Greg Ryan in the saddle, winner on heavy tracks previously and maps well for this one, could be the one to beat here. Another long value runner here for Jake Pracey-Holmes in Amare, who is coming in wtih the strongest form lines, but, is yet to test a heavy track. Unknown quantity here today, that, at its best, could upset here.

Top Pick – Not For Export
Next Best – Assurity
Longshot – Amare

TOP PICK

Race 5 – XXXX GOLD CUP SPRINT PRELUDE 1120m

Joey’s Destiny and Greg Ryan are going to be the benchmark in this race. Will look to push forward early on and dictate the pace of the race, if Ryan can get to the front in this one, will prove hard to track down on Joey’s Destiny. One to beat here. Kenny Succeed is one that can never not be counted. Has exceptional late speed, and will be challenging for the lead, the type of horse that can go gate to post. This one isn’t much of a longshot, or value runner, but, must be included, Molasses is coming in on the back of a poorly run fourth after an impressive win with Cavallo in the saddle. Can run midfield and use good turn of foot to win this. Must be included.

Top Pick – Joey’s Destiny
Next Best – Kenny Succeed
Must be included – Molasses

TOP PICK

Race 6 – NZ RACING & RUGBY BENCHMARK 58 1120m

Billy Bent Ear was an impressive winner last start, and, there is nothing to suggest it can not back that performance up here, retaining winning jockey here and at suitable distance as well as track conditions. Will take some beating here. The Arnold Schwarzenegger favourite here, Get To The Chopper is the next best, dropping in class significantly here today, and has the form to pull this one off. Expect a bold run. Little Bertie must be included. Retains winning jockey from last effort, and, going into only it’s third race in a beatable benchmark 58, if it can win here today – it is a must in the blackbook.

Top Pick – Billy Bent Ear
Next Best – Get To The Chopper
Must be included – Little Bertie

TOP PICK

Race 7 – NZ RACING & RUGBY BENCHMARK 58 1120m

Hoges is the one you want to be on here and is great value currently at time of writing. Trialed nicely behind Tim’s Principal over 900m in preparation for this race, and, last competitive race can be dismissed when copping interference being blocked for a run and fading out. Time before that super impressive win against a more competitive field than today’s. Top chance. Tibidabo is the next best here and going to be one of the main challengers to Hoges, may have even gotten the nod if not for poor history when running from wide barriers. Dropping in class and will have an edge, but, will need to find its best to win here. Eyesaw is another that must be included here. Good first up record, will look to run on the pace, and, will have every chance on this track.

Top Pick – Hoges
Next Best – Tibdabo
Longshot – Eyesaw

TOP PICK

Race 8 – DUBBO TOYOTA DUBBO CUP PRELUDE 1420m

Wild Cavalier is the picture of consistency at the moment, doing everything right, except for winning. Has every chance here today to convert that good form against a softer field than last. Will look to get near the lead and run on the pace. Can go on with it today. Bank On Henry is the next best here, coming in on the back of a sound performance with jockey, running in second on heavy track, and, finds a less competitive field than last. Can go one better. Moonlight Spy is the one that is a real dark horse in this race. Lightly exposed to the track, running here once for a place, last start second at long odds was an impressive showing, and, anything close to that here could be enough to win.

Top Pick – Wild Cavalier
Next Best – Bank On Henry
Longshot – Moonlight Spy

TOP PICK

Race 9 – DUBBO CHRISTMAS TWILIGHTS CLASS 2 1420m

Outta Space is dropping in class today and must be respected. Beaten a better field than is on offer here today – especially after all the top level talent being scratched this morning. Sergy Linsyy is always a difficult customer when it comes to closing out race meets, and this won’t be any different on this talented gelding. Main threat here is in Sure Shot Sheza. Drawn well and will look to run just off the pace setters here. Has a good turn of foot and will be right there throughout. Longshot value here goes to Tokyo Bullet, who has drawn well and will be able to run just off the pace in what maps as a slower race than expected now with the speedsters being scratched, which suits Tokyo Bullet.

Top Pick – Outta Space
Next Best – Sure Shot Sheza
Longshot – Tokyo Bullet

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Marwillumbah

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns to form, nailing back-to-back quaddies last week. After a small break the last two days, we have a few competitive races at Marwillumbah – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – SOLO RESOURCE RECOVERY CLASS 2 1530m

Tough opening race here, with a couple of key runners looking better than the rest, including an surprise appearance by Queensland jockey, Jim Byrne. Dunn is enjoying a great season so far, and, Mother To Race Her looks like another winner for him here today in this small field. Expected to run on the heels of the lead horses and then bolt home over the closing stages. Has the ability here. Main danger here comes in the Matt McGuren mount – Wainui Gold, who is a strong performer at the distance and has strong sectionals suggesting it will be one of the top sprinters in the closing stages. Airlie Man is the value runner in the race here, who is a little over the odds based off last performance, something that can be easily replicated in this smaller, less speedier feild. Expect a bold run.|

Top Pick – Mother To Race Her
Next Best – Wainui Gold
Longshot – Airlie Man

TOP PICK

Race 2 – BRIMS CONCRETE – EVA SMITH MAIDEN 1200m

Another tightly contested small field of runners here, but, we are going with the untested, Pirlo to get the win here. Trial form with todays jockey is strong, finishing a close second to the speedy Hayburner at Ballina. Expected to run on the pace today, in a race that figures to have genuine pace. Drawn tricky, but, doesn’t need to overwork early due to the small field. Main dangers comes in Rock’n’roll Music, who is first up today.

Top Pick – Pirlo
No next best – No third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 3 – AUSTRALIAN BITUMEN SERVICES 1200m

Again another small field of runners here that looks to be another tightly contested race. Expecting to see Portuguese Tart jump well and sit behind the lead horses, likely to be headed up by Pundit, who will bring the early speed into this one. However, Portuguese Tart won well over this distance at Doomben in a field of better horses and, figures to repeat that success here despite last two starts being very, very unimpressive. Duke Of Frederick would have gotten the nod here if he had a run under his belt, but, comes into this one a little cold, and, may struggle due to the lack of fitness after a 166-day layoff. Has the ability if at its best. Pundit is the value horse here, drawn well, has bundles of early speed and, if Pundit can dig deep and hold its expected lead throughout, can win this.

Top Pick – Portuguese Tart
Next Best – Duke Of Frederick
Longshot – Pundit

TOP PICK

Race 4 – CUNNINGHAM VALUERS MAIDEN PLATE 1530m

Hayburner did everything right on debut, except for winning. Has a bigger field to contest with here today – but, has drawn the rail run today, and will be able to sit in cover throughout. The speed horse of the race over the closing stages and, a race similar to last effort should be good enough to win this one. Indian Rocks is the next best, running a close second to Red Flyer is a good form line, and it was a loss by not even a length. A horse that likes to be in front, and, if Tegan Harrison can get tot he front and dictate the pace, could be hard to track down. Twilight Flyer has not had a great deal of success in its career, but, is suited by this race and will be one of the lead horses on a track that favours front runners. Has every chance today.

Top Pick – Hayburner
Next Best – Indian Rocks
Longshot – Twilight Flyer

TOP PICK

Race 5 – MURWILLUMBAH CELLARS BM 58 1100m

Reigning Thunder is worth a shot here, even with apprentice jockey, Jed Hodge in the saddle. Significant drop in class here today and, has every chance against this field in what is truly an open race. Being dropped in class and running second up here and will be better for the race fitness form last race. Expect a bold run today. Limited is the next best here, an most of that confidence comes from having Ryan Maloney in the saddle who has become the hottest jockey in Queensland after moving north. The horse comes into this one with plenty of speed and is one of the top chances here. Paroo River is the value horse here, form lines aren’t overly impressive, but, it matches up to all runners here, and has a good second up record. One of the chances.

Top Pick – Reigning Thunder
Next Best – Limited
Longshot/Value – Paroo River

TOP PICK

Race 6 – TURSA NEWMARKET HANDICAP 1200m

Sunset Hills is going to be the lead horse in this one, drawn well and can get to the front quick. Showed great resolve when leading from gate to post two starts back on a very heavy track, seems to produce its best on the heavier going – but, is on firm today, which could be an issue. However, sectionals favour the 8-year-old here and, if it can dictate the pace of the race, will be very hard to track down again. Powerful Saga is the next best here, winner at track and distance three starts back and has winning jockey form that effort. Must be included. Charlie Cat put in a great effort two starts back when stealing the win from the much more fancied Dansez. Last start was racing out of its depth as a $31 chance, and ran to that value. More competitive here today and a win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Sunset Hills
Next Best – Powerful Saga
Longshot – Charlie Cat

TOP PICK

Race 7 – RIVERVIEW HOTEL MURWILLUMBAH CUP 1530m

Bodega Negra is the surprise pick here. The last time it won earlier in the year, it was a similar field to this, at the same odds, with half a furlong extra to run. Here today, it has a little less distance to hold the elad over. Will look to push forward early on and try to get the lead, there will be others vying for it however. Bodega Negra has performed its best when it has gotten a hold of the lead. Dropping in class today for this race and a win definitely won’t surprise. Hotel Coste was impressive last start, despite falling short of the win. Has a very similar opportunity here today and will be better for the last race. Retains jockey from that effort and will be close again today. Future Event can’t be looked past here. Impressive record over the distance, getting an upgrade in the saddle and is ready to peak here. Good odds and should come close.

Top Pick – Bodega Negra
Next Best – Hotel Coste
Longshot – Future Event

TOP PICK

Race 8 – JH WILLIAMS TYGALGAH CUP – BM 66 2020m

Rallier was impressive last start when winning – jumps sharply in distance today to test the ten furlong range for the first time, but, last start win by a length showed that it had more left and would appreciate the extra distance. Best of the day for Plessis, and, won’t want to squander this chance. Next best here is the Jim Byrne ride in Pegapus. 5-year-old yet to strike at this distance, but, has a good record when dropping in class, and has that edge again here today. Tempa Mental is the best of the rest here, winner at a similar distance, last start was disappointing, but, can find its best here.

Top Pick – Rallier
Next Best – Pegapus
Longshot – Tempa Mental

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Warwick Farm

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns to form, nailing back-to-back quaddies last week. After a small break the last two days, we have a few competitive races at Warwick Farm – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – #THERACES HANDICAP 1300m

Small, but, ultra competitive race here with one of our top rated runners on the day in Brilliant Choice, who has drawn well, and get Tommy Berry in the saddle. Showed great grit last start fighting hard before getting swooped late on debut. Bright prospects here. Vulcan and Vega one are the main dangers here.

Top Pick – Brilliant Choice
No next best – No third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 2 – TAB.COM.AU HANDICAP 1600m

Matowi was disappointing last start when finishing in fourth when much better was expected. Smaller field here today, with only one main danger in Tarka. However, the Ocean Park runner needed more room to run on debut and gets an extra 350 metres here. As mentioned, Tarka and James McDonald are the main dangers and will make Bowman bring the best out of Matowi in order to get the win.

Top Pick – Matowi
Next Best – Tarka
No third pick – No third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 3 – ATC HONG KONG TOUR SPRINT 1000m

Robbie Dolan has a great chance to get the win here on the in form, Royal Hootenany, who has picked up two impressive wins on the trot, both against super quick fields like what today presents. The distance suits, and, won well over this trip two starts back. In a squeeze barrier, the Royal Hootenany has a great turn of foot and could prove too much here. Deity is the next best here, and, gives Tommy Berry another good chance on the day already. Ran well before spell, but, is coming into this one fresh and could have that residual fitness that is needed. Exced And Excel sprinter, Excellent Design has drawn perfectly near the rail and has shown good early speed to get to the lead. Could do that again here and could be hard to track down.

Top Pick – Royal Hootenany
Next Best – Deity
Longshot/Value – Excellent Design

TOP PICK

Race 4 – TAB REWARDS HANDICAP 2200m

More Moet is great value here, great record over the distance, winner at track and distance previously as well as class, has every box ticked here and has a great turn of foot in the closing stages of the race. One to beat here. Corinth has been right there over its last three attempts when surging late – is given another chance here today on a quick back-up. Has the ability. All Cash is the best of the rest here. Been hit and miss, but, has drawn well and will use good early speed to get a favourable position.

Top Pick – More Moet
Next Best – Corinth
Longshot/Value – All Cash

TOP PICK

Race 5 – RIBCHESTER NEW TO DARLEY MILE 1600m

Makdanife is the pick here. Ran on strongly last start and, is second up and fitter for that effort here today. Powerful gait, and is in a field that hasn’t shown the same speed over the last furlong. Expecting a bold run here. Next best in this one will be Waiheke, who, has unfortunately drawn the carpark, but, has great early speed to overcome this. Expected to roll forward early and be the one to catch. Chocolatier is the best of the rest. Winner last start after disappointing debut, the Redoute’s Choice runner has a bit of maturing to do, but, if runs smartly today, could take some beating.

Top Pick – Makdanife
Next Best – Waiheke
Longshot – Chocolatier

TOP PICK

Race 6 – EVEREST CARNIVAL HANDICAP 1400m

Bull Market gets another go here, we were against him in his last effort, but, we will be with the Bull in this one. Showed enough last start to suggest it can handle this field, while, more runners are taking him on today – has drawn well and will get into a favourable early spot just behind the lead pack. At its best, won’t lose this one. Seaglass is one that has disappointed so far this prep, back-to-back fourths haven’t helped its claims, but, has the talent and, if it can find a little extra today, will be right in it. Impasse is the best of the rest here, best form of the field, and, has Bowman in the saddle, only adding to its claims here. Tricky wide barrier but, will drop off the pace and move across, with a bit of luck, with a void getting caught deep.

Top Pick – Bull Market
Next Best – Seaglass
Longshot/Value – Impasse

TOP PICK

Race 7 – AUSTRALIAN TURF CLUB HANDICAP 1200m
James McDonald finishes the day here with one of his top rides in Coruscate, who has drawn wide, but, will look to roll forward quickly with good early speed. if McDonald is allowed to dictate the pace of the race, Coruscate will be hard to beat first up here today – added kicker of being a winner fresh previously. Bowman and Under The Thumb are the next best here, and, second up as well after a flashy third first up in last start. Distance, class and track all suit here. Rafha’s Choice is the best of the rest here. Getting a fresh Grant Buckley in the saddle, who has had a few meets since returning from holidays, gets a class dropper, who has won at distance previously. Expect a bold run.

Top Pick – Coruscate
Next Best – Under The Thumb
Longshot – Rafha’s Choice

TOP PICK

QUADDIE FOR THE MEET
Race 4 – 2/4/5
Race 5 – 6/8/10

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Taree

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns to form, nailing back-to-back quaddies. With some big fields, and a few competitive races – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Backing up from a big day yesterday, including a quaddie win at Newcastle.

Race 1 – HICKS BUSINESS SERVICES F&M MAIDEN 1250m

Tartufo Bianco is the pick of the opener here. Impressive last start on debut and unlucky to just miss its debut win. Has an easier field here and gets the extra metres it needed to win last start. Expect a bold run here today. Lees has a good chance at taking the first with the two best horses in the opener with Tartufo Bianco and Think Free. The So You Think filly is on debut here but, from all accounts is ready to fire. Has the pedigree and willing to take it on here. Longshot value in this one goes to Le Faberge, strong run second last start, and, anything close to that form will have him close again. One to watch.

Top Pick – Tartufo Bianco
Next Best – Think Free
Longshot – Le Faberge

TOP PICK

Race 2 – PAGE ELEVEN MARKETING CG&E MAIDEN 1250m

Eskimo Commander put in a lot of hard work last start and, is ready to fire here today. The favourite doesn’t have what you want on debut – doesn’t mean it can’t run well, but, it doesn’t rate well here where Eskimo Commander only needs to replicate last effort to win here. Big engine and can win this one second up. The Excites gelding here is the next best option. Neptune was disappointing last start on a first up effort, will be second up here today and strips fitter. Slight drop in class as well which helps, and, will go close. Chasin makes a small drop in class today, but is second up here today, and placed second up previously. Has the ability to win here and is slightly over where it should be valued.

Top Pick – Eskimo Commander
Next Best – Neptune
Longshot – Chasin

TOP PICK

Race 3 – EDDIES FRESH CHICKENS PLATE 1600m

Grand Soleil is an undeserving short priced favourite here, this doesn’t mean that it can’t win, but, it represents no value – and it hasn’t proven that it can beat this field even dropping in grade to have an edge. Unimpressive over last few starts which really opens the door to some value here. Best value here is in the impressive Eye Was, who had an eye catching win last start when beating James Richard, at this track with the same jockey, nothing says that it can be repeated. Our Espostio is another impressive runner that scored a good win last up, and, has the in form Rachel Murray in the saddle. Expect another bold run here again today. Ravitude is another here with legitimate claims, good value, has shown good late speed that could capitalise on a slowish looking race. Win wouldn’t surprise.

Top Pick – Eye Was
Next Best – Our Esposito
Longshot – Ravitude

TOP PICK

Race 4 – DAWSONS WHOLESALE SMALLGOODS 2000m

Serious Dancer has been prepped for this race well, and comes in on a good run of form, with back to back seconds and looking to go one better over the right distance here. Looked hungry for more running room over last couple of efforts and is getting that lift here today while also dropping in class. One to beat. Miss Zodiac has been just off the money on five of eight runs over this distance, and, will be the speed horse of this race. Expected to sit off the pace and use that strong turn of foot to get this one late. Expect a bold run. Value runner here today is Clune’s Rocket. The old 9-year-old still has plenty left in the tank and is a getting its first try at the ten furlongs today. One to keep an eye on here can win.

Top Pick – Serious Dancer
Next Best – Miss Zodiac
Longshot – Clune’s Rocket

TOP PICK

Race 5 – TAREE SPORTS CLUB BENCHMARK 58 1000m

Tough race here to start the quaddie in one of the most open races of the day. But, the nod here will go to Belinda Hodder and Stoddart. If Hodder can overcome the wide barrier, she will be right in this one. Stoddart enjoys riding just off the lead horses and, with a bit of luck, will be able to get across without getting caught wide. If Hodder can save some stamina for the end of the race without too much early work – Stoddart can win this, showing a great turn of foot previously. Typhoon Bonny would be the top pick here if not coming in off a spell. Has won first up previously and gets the claim with Graham in the saddle as well as dropping in class. Has every chance to win here. Best value is Outsmartem, dropping in class, but, caught a wide barrier and will need to get across early. However, Outsmartem possesses a lot of early speed and will look to push to the lead. If it can dictate the pace of the race, it has shown that it can go post-to-post previously.

Top Pick – Stoddart
Next Best – Typhoon Bonny
Longshot – Outsmartem

TOP PICK

Race 6 – R & L REFRIGERATION CLASS 1 1000m

At short odds – Foxy’s Foxinator maps too well for this field and the market is reflecting this. Belinda Hodder doesn’t squander chances like this, and, with the added kicker of running well from a wide barrier, Foxy’s Foxinator will prove hard to beat here. Impulsive Maneuver is a real threat here. Coming in fresh and placed first-up previously, gets the in form McGuren in the saddle, expect a bold run here. Allez Rev is the best of the rest here. Hull has run in a strong third with this horse last start in this class and distance – will be thereabouts again.

Top Pick – Foxy’s Foxinator
Next Best – Impulsive Maneuver
Longshot – Allez Rev

TOP PICK

Race 7 – MNCRA AWARDS HOPKINS LIVERMORE CUP 1400m

Another rather open race here, with a few that look every chance to win it. However, the one that maps the best here is the Steven Fell trained and Andrew Gibbons ridden Alot Like Home. Gibbons rode for an impressive win over six furlongs last start and, the trainer promptly moved the horse up to seven furlongs for this race. Has all the potential to repeat last start success as when winning looked like it could have kept going. Marathon can’t be ignored here. Winner of five from nine attempts at the distance, running lighter here by 7kgs compared to last start third, a win here wouldn’t surprise. Profiler is the value runner here, winner at class and distance previously, last start third was impressive when running against a better field of runners. Can go close.

Top Pick – Alot Like Home
Next Best – Marathon
Longshot – Profiler

Top Pick

Race 8 – TAREE TRUCK CENTRE CLASS 2 1400m

Another tricky race here, with two real big standouts, but, the nod goes to the one with value in Saint Denis. Ran impressively this prep to grab multiple seconds, and, maps well against this field. Only missed last race as Hermosa Reward had a great kick in the dying embers of the race. Run similar to last outing will be enough here. African Guy is the next best. Form is strong being just off a win over last three starts and will be looking to finish this one off a little better than last when just not having that little bit more. Has the ability, just needs some luck from the wider gate. Sniponet has been prepped for this race after a disappointing fifth last start, Gibbons has the ride and has drawn well near the rail. will look to roll forward and fight for leadership with Saint Denis, track favours lead horses and could do enough to win here.

Top Pick – Saint Denis
Next Best – African Guy
Longshot/Value – Sniponet

TOP PICK
