It has been a bit of a spell between Punters Guide publishings, but, we are back today, and ready to go for the big card at Hawkesbury. Looking for plays – we have you covered here. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – Arcadia Entertainment Maiden 1000m

Tye Angland has been racing like a man possessed of late, and, he is in a position here, where he is expected to continue his hot form on the Godolphin trained runner – Evict. Coming in fresh after a lengthy break, prior to that ran on a game second with Angland in the saddle. Finds an easier field here and should be hard to beat. Magnolia Power is the main danger here. Lees has said previously that he expects this horse to go through the classes soon, and, this could be the first step in the right direction. Impurity could be the value point here. Coming in off a layoff but, solid form prior to that. Jason Collett enjoys the Hawkesbury track and a win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Evict
Next Best – Magnolia Power
Longshot – Impurity

Race 2 – Daily Press Cg&e Class 1 Handicap 1400m

Mark Newnham looks to continue his strong spring campaign here with an early Hawkesbury winner on Shouson, who has been in good form heading into this race. Koby Jennings has the ride and the pair combined for an impressive win against a similar field last start. Drawn better than last start and should be in the mix here. Show Me The Honey is the other short priced runner here, and has legitimate claims. Impressive second last start, Hutchings returns to the saddle, the weight is a concern, but, has a strong enough gait to overcome this. Chamfer is the value point in this race. Winner at the track last start with Spriggs on board, won with ease, and, shouldn’t find the extra half furlong any trouble. Win wouldn’t shock here.

Top Pick – Shouson
Next Best – Show Me The Honey
Longshot/Value – Chamfer

Race 3 – Coca-cola Amatil Maiden Handicap 1300m

A debutant Snitzel runner has caught the eye today. Josh Parr will take the honours on the first mount here on Wokurna. Drawn a little awkwardly here but, will be right in this one. Training reports suggest it will run on the heels of the lead runners and swing home late. Watch market movement here. Stock Up is the listed favourite at the time of writing and, is coming fresh and has placed fresh previously. With a good start – will be right in this. Time Of Glory is the value point here. Placed when fresh previously, fresh again here today and drawn well enough to get a good early spot in cover. Can test these.

Top Pick – Wokurna
Next Best – Stock Up
Longshot – Time Of Glory

Race 4 – Forever Gleam Prov & Ctry Maiden 1300m

Jonjo’s Comet is an interesting prospect here. Another Parr runner for the day here, and, has drawn a little awkwardly. Has the early pace to get out behind the lead pack and settle in. Could be hard to beat here. All The Wine is another interesting runner here in this competitive little race. Coming in with good form lines, decent enough draw, and, will look to sit midfield early on in cover. If a bit of luck can happen later on in the race – All The Wine could be hard to keep out. The favourite Wild Kingdom, can’t be denied a mention here. Drawn well, will have gear changes and is running fresh after a considerable layoff – race fitness is the only question here.

Top Pick – Jonjo’s Comet
Next Best – All The Wine
Longshot/Value – Wild Kingdom

Race 5 – Bsg Benchmark 64 Handicap 1100m

Natalia was super impressive when winning on debut by 2.8L. Comes in today after a long spell of 166-days and will be expected to run well again here at this distance. Last win was over the five furlongs and will be hitting five and a half today. Drawn wide, but, has a great amount of late speed to recover the ground she is expected to relinquish early. One to beat. Jexerlent has dropped in class significantly for this race to get back on form. However, comes in at the weights unfavourably to do so. Unbeaten at track and distance, and is a winner at this class previously. Win won’t shock here. Dream I Can is the best of the rest here. Adkins has the ride and, is another significant class dropper here. Has shown great turn of foot before and is yet to be out of the money at track and distance.

Top Pick – Natalia
Next Best – Jexerlent
Longshot – Dream I Can

Race 6 – Hawkesbury Living Maiden Plate 1500m

Merican ran an eye catching second last start, and, running near that level again here today would be more than enough in what maps as a softer race. Main danger here looms in Saintly Sunrise, who is the current listed favourite. Coming in on the back of a fourth that doesn’t sound impressive but, was against a stronger field of runners and made up a lot of ground late. Will be in the minors at worst here. Timeless Melody is a non winner after fifteen starts, and, today is as tough an assignment as ever. Runs better when the ground is a little churned and gets that here today. A good start and a bit of luck in the middle stages and Timeless Melody could finally break that duck

Top Pick – Merican
Next Best – Saintly Sunrise
Longshot – Timeless Melody

Race 7 – Richmond Club Group F&m Class 1 1400m

Segalas is the best of the day here – but, not a great deal of value to be had. Impressive runner coming in on the back of a blistering win as odds on last start, odds on again here today and will prove hard to beat. Of the others, Song And A Prayer and Cuban Sizzle are the main dangers, but, it would take a very poor ride for Segalas to not ebat this field.

Top Pick – Segalas
Next Best – Song And A Prayer
Longshot/Value – Cuban Sizzle

Race 8 – Livamol Class 2 Handicap 1800m

Mohican and Kathy O’Hara are a dangerous combo, hitting the minors on all four of their last four runs together. Both have combined for a win previously, and, after a prep of knocking on the door – should be right in the mix again today, and, will hopefully be able to get over that bump. Rated on top. Devil’s Lair disappointed first-up last start when barely avoiding finishing last. Second up today, and is a winner second up previously. Needs sharp improvement on last start – but is capable of doing so. Godunov can’t be denied here, unbeaten in two runs at the track, winner at class, main question mark here is the distance. Would have rated on top if it wasn’t at a distance that could be out of its range – today is the test.

Top Pick – Mohican
Next Best – Devils Lair
Longshot/Value – Godnuov
