Bet Chimps Punters Guide – 2018 Sandown Guineas

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia (2018 Sandown Guineas)

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

It’s Sandown Guineas day, which brings a sad close to the Spring Carnival and we have the best from every race with the Bet Chimps Punters Guide and, we are ready to go for the big card at the 2018Sandown Guineas. Looking for plays – we have you covered here. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – Thoroughbred Club Merson Cooper 1000m

Interesting race here first up with a good handful of untested and unseen runners. What happens in this deubtant races is a scattershot, however, following Redoute’s Choice first-uppers has reaped good rewards here, and, we are going to do that again here. Salina has drawn well, comes from the successful, Hayes & Dabernig stable, and gets the hot Mark Zahra in the saddle. Everything points in the right direction here and happy to have it on top at value. The current listed favourite, Salome comes in here as well. Ran well at the Valley despite not getting the win, the short straight didn’t help, gets a wide turn and a longer straight here and will be right in it. The Wow Signal is another sire that rarely produces poor fresh runners – and Wolf Whistle is one of those here today. Brett Prebble will be looking to return to winning ways, and has a chance to here at long odds.

Top Pick – Salina
Next Best – Salome
Longshot – Wolf Whistle

TOP PICK
Sandown Guineas

Race 2 – Ladbrokes Sandown Cup 3200m

Azuro is the top horse in this race. Distance is what Weir has been building this horse up for and retains Ben Allen in the saddle who rode for a win two starts back at Caulfield. Last race can be forgiven due to track conditions, but, was still a strong showing. Expected to run hard today. Yogi can’t be discounted, but, has just looked lost on its last two starts. Finds an easier field here and the distance is definitely within the geldings ability. If it can find that fast finishing form, it can win here – just feel there may be too many races this prep. Doukhan may not be a longshot – but, it could be the value point at its current quote. Just failed to fire last start after getting stuck in traffic, will need to do better today – but, is capable of that.

Top Pick – Azuro
Next Best – Yogi
Longshot/Value – Doukhan

TOP PICK
Sandown Guineas

Race 3 – Mrc Members Twilight Glow Stakes 1400m

Gotta Be Gold is the one to beat here. Coming in on the back of an eye watering 3.5L victory at Morphettville, gets Jamie Kah in the saddle, and has a track that suits. Drawn well, has the best top end speed in the race and should be able to lead comfortably. Will be up to the rest to play catch up. Next best here is Sweet Rockette, another trained and ridden runner on the day for Michelle Payne, and this one may represent the most value, decent speed and can sit in cover from the wide draw. Win wouldn’t shock. Jen Rules is a capable type at odds. Runs well at this range, despite not winning, but, hot jockey McEvoy in the saddle ticks a big box and, has the ability.

Top Pick – Gotta Be Gold
Next Best – Sweet Rockette
Longshot – Jen Rules

TOP PICK
Sandown Guineas

Race 4 – Mypunter.com Eclipse Stakes 1800m

Bring Me Roses is the strongest chance here in a talented field of runners. Being a back marker will begin to suit around this time of the day, drawn awkwardly, but, will easily drop back to find cover throughout. Talented horse that should be the benchmark here. Mask Of Time is the next best here. Small field suits, will look for the lead early on and has drawn well to do so. At its best, can beat this field pretty easily, only red flag is the lack of experience at the track. This type of track really suits those that come from the back and have good engines, and, that is Tally to a T. The slight increase on the Hillside will make it a little more difficult for front runners, but, the sharp corners help close running lanes. The home straight however opens up nicely and has length for back markers to move – again, suiting Tally.

Top Pick – Bring Me Roses
Next Best – Mask Of Time
Longshot – Tally

TOP PICK
Sandown Guineas

Race 5 – Kevin Heffernan Stakes 1300m

Rich Charm is first-up today after a 63-day spell. This is the type of track that suits a horse like Rich Charm, loves to go left, loves sweeping turns and open spaces, will get that here today and at its best – can beat this field by a length or more. Inconsistencies since winning streak are of concern, but, this is the race where it needs to show up, as it is capable of doing. Quilista is the type of horse that would come out, get the start, and never give it up. The little inclinations in this track are a cause for concern as Quilista is one of those horses that gives you rocks or diamonds. If she brings diamonds today – this field won’t come close. Taking a bit of a stab in the dark here on a once touted horse – that is Fuhryk. Will look to settle back of the pack early on, has shown incredible turn of foot early on in its career, comes in here slightly over raced, but, yet to show its best. One more chance here.

Top Pick – Rich Charm
Next Best – Quilista
Longshot – Fuhryk

TOP PICK
Sandown Guineas

Race 6 – Araza Sandown Stakes 1500m

Fifty Stars is again, another of our top rated runners for the day, should be well under the $2 quote by the time it jumps today. Expected to run well and replicate success on last start. One to beat. Dollar For Dollar is a clear danger. The new Currie/McEvoy combo is going to be on show here after Jamie Kah went away from the stable. Dollar For Dollar is one of those horses that just gives its all every race, and, no different should be expected here. Real chance. Sircconi was horrible last start when failing to even come in the top eight. Has shown great speed previously against a similar field, but, will need to give an unrelenting performance here to beat the top pick.

Top Pick – Fifty Stars
Next Best – Dollar For Dollar
Longshot – Sircconi

TOP PICK
Sandown Guineas

Race 7 – Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas 1600m

Proved us wrong last start, Ringerdingding is back again today, and, finds a much easier field than last time. Main danger here is Seabrook, who hasn’t really shown anything to suggest it can challenge another strong Weir runner here. Top chance. Seabrook is the next best here, drawn awkwardly, but, will be looking to get across in cover early on and sit near the rear. At its best has shown a good turn of foot and has won at this range. Track could be an issue here, as Seabrook has only every run well on flat grounds, the inclination on Hillside could be an issue. Secret Blaze is the best of the rest here. Ran on well for third behind Ranier last start and maps well here. Another that has drawn a little wide, but, won’t look for the lead and will look to slot in behind the leaders. Has shwon a good turn of foot previously and a win wouldn’t shock should the top pick find trouble.

Top Pick – Ringerdingding
Next Best – Seabrook
Longshot – Secret Blaze

TOP PICK
Sandown Guineas

Race 8 – Quayclean Zipping Classic 2400m

Libran is great value here. Ran a decent race last start when finishing third behind Jameeh, finds a talented field of runners here, but, a run close to last effort will have the 8-year-old right in the mix here. Our Libretto went amiss last start – but, gets a second chance here after a solid prep that includes four wins. Drawn the rail, but, will relinquish the lead quickly and drop back to the rear 3/4 of the field. Has a good turn off foot, but, will need some luck on the rail to get through. Dal Harraild may not be a longshot – but represents value at current quote of $5 looking at how this race could play out. Will sit behind The Taj Mahal and look to make the favourite over race early on. Dal Harraild has should be able to win the tactical battle with McEvoy in the saddle and rates well here.

Top Pick – Libran
Next Best – Our Libretto
Longshot/Value – Dal Harraild

TOP PICK
Sandown Guineas

Race 9 – Clanbrooke Racing Doveton Stakes 1000m

Written Choice just had a bad day out last start, over racing early on and never really being in it. Has been absolutely slammed by bookmakers for that run, but, happy too forgive here. Written Choice is a great horse, and, if it can regather form from before last start – is the best horse in this field. Will look to jump well and pressure for the lead early on. If Written Choice can dictate the pace of this one – its game over here. Bons Away rarely runs a poor race, was never in it last start when coming up against a far superior Osbourne Bulls. A run similar to last will be enough here. John McArdle is quietly having a decent spring, and, his runner, I’ll Have A Bit is one of the chances here. Mott has been hit and miss this season – but, I’ll Have A Bit is a good runner second-up, is second-up here today and will be right in this one.

Top Pick – Written Choice
Next Best – Bons Away
Longshot – I’ll Have A Bit

TOP PICK
Sandown Guineas

Race 10 – Le Pine Funerals Summoned Stakes 1500m

Zumbelina can be forgiven for last start when racing out of its depth and class. Convincingly beaten, and, drops back from that type of field here today. Drawn the carpark, but, that is of little importance at Sandown, as fields merge quick and rarely get caught wide on the turn. Has shown enough to suggest it can best this field. Will fall behind the lead pack early on and the Sandown straight works in McEvoy’s favour here. Our Crown Mistress will look to fly out to an early lead and dictate the pace of the race. If Zahra can get there, it should create a very fast and uptempo race. One of the top chances here. Value is in Spanner Head, who will jump out quick and sit on the heals of the lead pack, has shown a great turn of foot in transit and a win wouldn’t shock here.

Top Pick – Zumbelina
Next Best – Our Crown Mistress
Longshot – Spanner Head

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Moonee Valley

It has been a bit of a spell between Punters Guide publishings, but, we are back today, and ready to go for the big card at Hawkesbury. Looking for plays – we have you covered here. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – Lucrf Super Handicap 1000m

Interesting race here to start the night. A rather open affair on paper, all horses are very closely matched, however, Final Choice gets the nod here. Last two wins were impressive and, closed out both of those races with impressive sectionals. Comes in at a good weight, may have drawn a little wide, but, will push forward quickly and be hard to beat. Propelle is a true chance here. Despite poor first up history, has shown an ability to finish strong, and, will look to do so again here, racing behind the lead pack. In the mix. Sacred Sword has been impressive when grabbing second on both career starts. Will be unperturbed by the big crowd and will run well. Win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Final Choice
Next Best – Propelle
Longshot – Sacred Sword

TOP PICK
Moonee Valley Punters Guide

Race 2 – The Westin Melbourne Handicap 2040m

Pleasuring was rather disappointing last start despite grabbing a minor. Finds a field slightly more competitive here, but, will be better for last run. Unproductive at the track, but, lethal over the distance, winning two of four starts. Maps well here and will give benefit of the doubt. Michael Walker and Pierrocity are clear dangers here. Placed previously over 2100m only just missing the win on that occasion. Possess good race fitness and will be in the mix here. Lopartega is the value point here. Dwayne Dunn has the ride, who has been a consistent jockey at Moonee Valley this spring. Lopartega has drawn a little wide, but, will need to run on pace to account for the short straight at the Valley.

Top Pick – Pleasuring
Next Best – Pierrocity
Longshot – Lopartega

TOP PICK
Moonee Valley Punters Guide

Race 3 – Chandler Macleod Vobis Gold Star 1500m

Widgee Turf is the one to be on here. Dropping in class, will need to carry 60kgs for it, but, is the best horse in this field. Strong finisher, sectionals suggest a quick finish, drawn well, but, will drop back early on. Late strider that will be hard to keep at bay if Zahra can find a seam. Iconoclasm would be the top pick here, if not for being consistently inconsistent. Current favourite at time of writing, and, will more than likely be that at jump. Iconoclasm has his followers, but, needs to keep up with last races efforts to be in this one. Nangawooka won for us here three starts back at big odds ($15), and is double that value here today. Jumps sharply in class, but, this horse thrives in stronger surroundings. Expect a bold finish.

Top Pick – Widgee Turf
Next Best – Iconoclasm
Longshot – Nangawooka

TOP PICK
Moonee Valley Punters Guide

Race 4 – Msc Signs Handicap 2040m

Zahspeed, at its best – is better than any other runner in this race. Multiple winner at this distance, winner at class and has had most success on the going expected tonight. Drawn perfectly on the rail and will look to push forward and lead from start to finish. Good value and over the odds. The Lord Mayor is another that can’t be denied here. Winner of two from four at this range, dropping back in distance which suits, as it was racing out of its depth last two starts. Expect a better effort here. Mr.Garcia could be the value point here. Impressive type that is always there abouts. Winner at range and John Allen is yet to lose on the 6-year-old gelding. Definite danger.

Top Pick – Zahspeed
Next Best – Lord Mayor
Longshot – Mr.Garcia

TOP PICK
Moonee Valley Punters Guide

Race 5 – Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge Ht3 955m

Esperance is the form horse in this race. Winner of last two, winner at distance but, stepping up slightly in class. However, speed over the short distances suggests that Esperance will be first past the post. Hugh Bowman is 2/2 in the saddle, and, will be looking to complete the hat-trick here today. Biggest danger will be in Prezado, a horse that has a ton of potential, but, rarely actualizes it on race days. Grabbed a minor on two of three starts after spell, and will have race fitness headed into this one. True chance. Essence Of Terror could be a good option here as well, fast start, and, will look to go straight to the front at the start – but will have a lot of company and will need a good start from the wide barrier to achieve that. If not overworked early on – will be right in this one.

Top Pick – Esperance
Next Best – Prezado
Longshot – Essence Of Terror

TOP PICK
Moonee Valley Punters Guide

Race 6 – Sweeney Estate Agents Handicap 1200m

Runson was super impressive when winning last start over the five furlongs, has an extra furlong to deal with today which could be a question mark. Stephen Baster is returning for the ride after strong win last start. Runson is yet to win over this distance and is more suited to the five, but, will get benefit of the doubt here over the six furlong marker. Captain Punch has drawn awkwardly, but, is another one of those horses that is going to be right in this one. Will look to start fast and push for the early lead, has the stamina to go from post-to-post here and a win wouldn’t be out of turn. Stellar Collision is another one that can’t be denied here in a very competitive field. Winner at track and distance previously, winner at class and a consistent performer when fresh. Expect a bold showing.

Top Pick – Runson
Next Best – Captain Punch
Longshot – Star Collision

TOP PICK
Moonee Valley Punters Guide

Race 7 – Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes 1200m

Sunlight despite not being overly exposed to this kind of a race, is the one to beat here. Riding extremely light and ready to fly. Drawn a gun run, will bolt to the lead out of the gate and be hard to track down. This 3-year-old filly has that something special, and, much like Redzel, is one of those horses that excels when in front. One to beat. Voodoo Lad can’t be discounted here. Winner at this track and distance on two from two starts, has shown great late speed previously and is a much better chaser than leader. Expect a bold finish. Malaguerra is just the type of horse that loves to upset big races. Done it many times before, has been rested to be fresh just for this race. At its best – can win here. First up record is very eye watering and will be competitive here.

Top Pick – Sunlight
Next Best – Voodoo Lad
Longshot – Malaguerra

TOP PICK
Moonee Valley Punters Guide

Race 8 – Mitchelton Wines Handicap 1500m

Tamasa is the one to be on here. Impressive winner last two starts, has shown a great turn of foot this prep and rates on top as best of the day. Won two of three starts at this distance, steps up slightly in class, but, has the speed and ability to win this one. One to beat. Kings Command can’t be looked over either. Get’s its normal jockey Ben Thompson back in the saddle here today and, the duo have combined to win at this range and class previously. Dropping in class and carrying a little bit of weight, but, will be right in this one. Call It A Day could be the value point here. Winner three times on five starts at this distance, finds a race similar to last win and can win this.

Top Pick – Tamasa
Next Best – Kings Command
Longshot/Value – Call It A Day

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Canterbury

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a good day yesterday, with multiple winners. We have a strong list of competitive races for the Canterbury Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – #THERACES HANDICAP 1250m

God Of Thunder is the top rated horse in the opener at Canterbury today. Tommy Berry has the ride and while this is not an easy field, God Of Thunder maps very well for this race. Coming in fresh on a short layoff – will have residual fitness, and is at the right distance today. Last first-up attempt wasn’t so great, when finishing a long eighth, but, much better is expected today. Altair can’t be overlooked here either. Bowman and Waller combine here for a ride that is in a very competitive field. The slower tempo that is expected will suit Altair, and, will allow it to stay in striking distance when running from midfield. Expect a bold run. Nicco Lad is the value point here, ran on impressively when fighting with the top rated Wagner last start, and, showed a lot of promise. Second-up today and fitter for last start. Win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – God Of Thunder
Next Best – Altair
Longshot/Value – Nicco Lad

TOP PICK
Canterbury Punters Guide

Race 2 – TAB.COM.AU HANDICAP 1250m

This looks like a race that Maggie Miss can win. Impressive barrier trial form, winning both, relatively comfortably without actually hitting top gear. Has a lot of speed, and, the distance is optimal here, one to beat. Competition will be in Press Box, who fell just short on previous attempts, and, finds a field that it can beat if Maggie Miss gets into some trouble in this small field.

Top Pick – Maggie Miss
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Canterbury Punters Guide

Race 3 – EVEREST CARNIVAL HANDICAP 1100m

This race maps as a good dual between Happy Bubbles and Gentle Persuasion. Happy Bubbles gets the nod here, the explosive late speed that Happy Bubbles showed on debut, could be the key difference here as Gentle Persuasion has shown early on that it needs time to wind up, where with Happy Bubbles, the trigger is almost instant. This field is more difficult for Happy Bubbles than what was faced on debut, but, any effort similar to last will be enough here.

Top Pick – Happy Bubbles
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Canterbury Punters Guide

Race 4 – ANZ BLOODSTOCK NEWS HANDICAP 1580m

Scream Park is another of the top rated runners here today at Canterbury, ran on very impressively for second last start, running in a very competitive field featuring Gauguin and Falcon Island, and almost got the former at the post. Anything close to last effort will be enough to win this one. Sam Weatherley and Cosmologist are a very handy duo, winning their last effort against a similar field, distance is preferred and will have every chance here. Expect a bold showing. Gretzky is another to look out for at value. At its best, can rattle home. Won at bigger tracks when based in Victoria, now, up in Sydney, has yet to show its best – today could be that day.

Top Pick – Scream Park
Next best – Cosmologist
Longshot/Value – Gretzky

TOP PICK
Canterbury Punters Guide

Race 5 – TAB REWARDS HANDICAP 1900m

Corinth is a progressive type, that, despite the wide, will find it easier to drop off the pace early and get in cover throughout. Distance suits, gets McEvoy in the saddle, and has a good turn of foot late. A win wouldn’t surprise. Scratches has to be included. Last start second over track and distance against a similar field, has McDonald on-board today, who returns form last effort. Rated highly. Fantastic Man and Tye Angland can’t be overlooked here either. Drawn well, dropping in class, and ran a strong race behind White Boots last start over track and distance. Another one at odds that could be value here.

Top Pick – Corinth
Next Best – Scratches
Longshot – Fantastic Man

TOP PICK

Race 6 – THE AGENCY REAL ESTATE HANDICAP 1100m

Deity is the one to be on here, dropping in class, coming in on the back of an impressive first up win, and, is ready to replicate that success here. Distance, gun draw and class all suit, Tommy Berry riding only adds to confidence. Excellent Design is one to look out for though, coming in off a lengthy spell, but, winner of last start back on Australia Day, trialed well in the lead up to today, has every chance. Value point here is Leami Astray, who is a horse that can get to the front, and not relent. Has a high motor and a powerful gait, and, is a true chance to win this race.

Top Pick – Deity
Next Best – Excellent Design
Longshot – Leami Astray

TOP PICK

Race 7 – ON TOP OF THE WORLD SPRINT 1100m

Za Zi ba was a last start winner for the punters guide – and, there is nothing to suggest that Sam Weatherley can’t double up for us here against a field that maps well for the All Too Hard mare. Distance suits and weight isn’t too much, expect a bold run. Coruscate is the next best here. Second-up and yet to win second-up. Winner last start by a small margin, but, finds the right distance, winner at this track, and retains winning jockey form last start win. Ticks a lot of boxes. Fuel starts today after a small spell, comes in at good distance, and drops in class. Has the ability and a win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Za Zi Ba
Next Best – Coruscate
Longshot – Fuel

TOP PICK
canterbury punters guide

Race 8 – AUSTRALIAN TURF CLUB HANDICAP 1250m

Metamorphic is just one of those horses that is hard to go against. Last start was ultra impressive when bursting through the field to narrowly miss the win. Distance suits today, drawn well and will be able to ride in cover throughout. Expect a bold run. Wagner was an impressive winner last start, and, will have a tougher task here today. Class is a little more competitive than last, and has drawn an awkward gate. Will need a lot of luck to not get caught wide, if it can, will be right in it. Common Purpose is a strong runner, and, despite Hugh Bowman being booked on Metamorhpic, Sam Weatherley is the in-form jockey right now and can get the job done. Common Purpose has the ability here and will have every chance to complete the quadrella of wins today.

Top Pick – Metamorphic
Next Best – Wagner
Longshot – Common Purpose

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Mackay

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a good day yesterday, with multiple winners and missing the quaddie by half a head. We have a strong list of competitive races for the Kalgoorlie Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – MOJO BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1560m

Very interesting race to kick off proceedings at Mackay today. The first race has one class dropper, however, this is a very open affair. There are three clear cut runners in this one, in Bawaardi Rocket, Wear The Fox Hat and Hyper Drive. Sonja Wiseman and Wear The Fox Hat ran a trial recently and it was rather unimpressive, but, knocked some cobwebs off headed into this one. The track suits, the distance maps suitable and being in the smaller field helps. Class shouldn’t be an issue and Wear The Fox Hat should be hard to beat today.

Top Pick – Wear The Fox Hat
No next bet – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Mackay Punters Guide

Race 2 – MACKAY CASINO NIGHTS 3YO HANDICAP 1560m

Another small field here, with another tightly contested bunch of runners. The duo of Justin Stanley and Tony Button has been very strong recently in Northern Queensland, and, there is nothing to suggest they won’t be able to pair up for another win here in this one. Kings County is a strong horse with a big motor and, if it can get to the lead from the wide draw, will be extremely difficult to track down. One to beat here.

Top Pick – Kings County
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Mackay Punters Guide

Race 3 – CHERYL GREEN TANNING BENCHMARK 70 1560m

A big opportunity here in another small field, for Justin Stanley to score an early race-to-race double here on Warwick Avenue. We have supported Mr.Boxvale many times of late, but, at his weight in this race, and the short back-up, Warwick Avenue has the edge here, who is dropping in class and retains winning jockey form last two rides. Expected to run well again today.

Top Pick – Warwick Avenue
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Mackay Punters Guide

Race 4 – COAL MINE SERVICES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m

That’s Anna is the standout here, untested over this trip, but, finishing well on debut and looking for more ground would suggest the Benfica mare is up to the task here. Les Tilley returns to the saddle here which only brightens prospects. Southern Special can’t be overlooked here either. Impressive over last couple of runs, and hits the right distance and class here. Has a good turn of foot, and, runs to last races standards, should be too good here. Thunder is the value point in this race. Yet to really show its best, as a fourteen race journeyman, this could be the time it makes that step connections have been waiting for.

Top Pick – That’s Anna
Next Best – Southern Special
Longshot – Thunder

TOP PICK
Mackay Punters Guide

Race 5 – MCDONALD MURPHY MACHINERY CLASS 3 1050m

Ryan Wiggins has his best ride of the day here in You Know The One, and, with the form of the horse, slight drop in class and turn of foot, will be right in this one. Wiggins won’t want to waste his best chance of the day, and, while there is a couple of horses that can challenge, it is the best horse in the field and, if ridden right, will be hard to beat. Sonja Wiseman has another challenger here in A Littlebitofmagic. Running light todya, and, making a slight jump in grade, has drawn a little wide, but, early speed compensates for this. One of the chances. Pietro Romeo has possibly the best value runner of the day here in Justflickinit. Currently trading well over the $50 barrier, has shown in its last race that closing speed isn’t an issue when at its best, and has winning jockey form that effort last-up here today. One to keep an eye on here.

Top Pick – You Know The One
Next Best – A Littlebitofmagic
Longshot – Justflickinit

Race 6 – SMART STATE VEHICLE RENTALS 1300m

This here is a great chance for Justin Stanley to complete his treble on the day with Friendly Dragon, who has drawn well, drops slightly in grade from last race, and, isn’t carrying an excessive weight. Has shown great turn of foot and, on the home straight, has the sectionals to suggest that it can beat this field. Top chance here. Ryan Wiggins has the chance for a race-to-race double here on the current favourite – Worthy Hero. Unimpressive last start when finishing third behind the top pick here. Has a weight advantage here, and, can go better. Grand Emperor, despite the massive weight, needs to be included. Has won at big weight previously and gets the chance to show that same grit from two starts back. Could be a value point come jump time, as many may be turned away by the 63.5kgs.

Top Pick – Friendly Dragon
Next Best – Worthy Hero
Longshot/Value – Grand Emperor

Race 7 – TAIT & CO CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS 1200m

Durif is the shortest priced runner of the day here, and, it is in a beatable field – that could give Ryan Wiggins a realistic shot at a hat-trick, provided he wins the prior two chances. Durif has drawn poorly, and, carries a lot of weight, but, is coming in fresh, and will need to do better than last first-up tries, failing to win on both occasions. Getting the benefit of the doubt here, and, a bold run is expected. Jabrook is the next best here. Winner last start and won well. Drawn well, and will look to move forward early from the good gate. Distance is right and class is beatable, one of the chances. Prince Of Mine rates well, despite the tote figure. Won last race well, but, will need to show a little more to win today. Jockey change doesn’t help here, but, the horse has the ability to shock today.

Top Pick – Durif
Next Best – Jabrook
Longshot – Prince Of Mine
