Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Kilmore

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia (Kilmore Punters Guide)

It has been a bit of a spell between Punters Guide publishings, but, we are back today, and ready to go for the big card at Caulfield. Looking for plays – we have you covered here. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – Bet365 Sv 3yo Maiden Plate 1462m

Just missed out on claiming debut win on softer ground last start, finds a smaller field and one that maps a little easier here. Meech is in great form right now as well, and, has the best horse in the race, which also happens to be my best of the day at Kilmore. Do You Reckon will push out of the gate fast, and, I expect Quality Approach to sit on his heels. Late speed advantage sits with Meech here, one to beat.

Top Pick – Quality Approach
No Next Best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Kilmore Punters Guide

Race 2 – North Central Review 3yo Fillies 1212m

Gossip showed great improvement last start under Jye McNeil, and will be in a race where it figures to be one of the top chances. Last race, finished strongly and will appreciate the extra distance here. Main danger comes in the favourite Polished Diamond, but, if Gossip can sit in cover early, will be hard to keep at bay here. Polished Diamond can’t be denied here, one of the top three in this race and, will have every chance to get that maiden win here after coming very close last start. Most likely to set the pace of the race, and, if Walker can build a good enough lead, may be able to hold off late challengers. She’s Our Reward could be the value runner here. Has enough race fitness headed into this one, drawn the rail and will enjoy the conditions. Win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Gossip
Next Best – Polished Diamond
Longshot – She’s Our Reward

TOP PICK

Race 3 – The Bendigo Club Maiden Plate 1612m

Castle Rock has come ever so close last two starts to breaking the maiden and, finds possibly the most beatable field it has come across so far in its young career. Will drop off the pace early and try to get in cover from the mid barrier draw. Enjoys a mid tempo race, which is what we have today without and true speedsters. Expected to win. Of the others, Perfect Pony and Miss Caboose have upset potential, but, this is Castle Rocks race to lose.

Top Pick – Castle Rock
Next Best – Perfect Pony
Longshot – Miss Caboose

Race 4 – Bet365 Kilmore Cup 25 November 1462m

In what maps a possible good start for favourite backers – Simply Dreaming ridden by Michael Walker rates on top here. Drawn well, the daughter of Denman will dropping off the pace early and looking to close later on. Has shown excellent late pace previously, only question mark is how well it can handle softer footing. Vibrato has had a good prep so far, grabbing multiple minors – but no win unfortunately. That could change here today if the favourite gets caught in some trouble racing from the back. Shown good turn of foot later on and will be right in this. Inala Max has history on softer going, and, Dean Holland is riding well at the moment. Drawn well and will be competitive here, slightly over the odds.

Top Pick – Simply Dreaming
Next Best – Vibrato
Longshot – Inala Max

TOP PICK

Race 5 – Cub Bm58 Handicap 1462m

Macstryker may not be running in the greatest form, but, at its best, has shown excellent turn of foot, has a strong gait to make up for the softer going in this one, and the late sectionals to suggest it can win, if at its best. Drawn well and will look to get cover early on and finish strong. Top chance. Amschel has drawn the rail, has the best form and is dropping in class targeting the win here. Distance suits and will be on pace throughout. If stamina is there, will win. Diamond Beauty could be the value point here. Recent form impressive, soft ground and distance are questions marks here. Has the speed to suggest a competitive run – but, others favoured.

Top Pick – Macstryker
Next Best – Amschel
Longshot/Value – Diamond Beauty

TOP PICK
Kilmore Punters Guide

Race 6 – Jet Roofing Bm58 Handicap 1112m

Missandei has been racing well this prep. Has hit four minors on nine tries at this range, and, will be looking to move across early on from the squeeze gate. Mid race is where Missandei will suggest a win or not – if she is running faster through the mid sections and can lead or be near it – she will be hard to beat. No Reward can’t be denied here, winner two starts back and winner at this distance and class. If No Reward does not over work early as it tends to, will be the main danger here. Royal Pegasus is the value point here, dropping in class significantly, with race fitness under its belt, and drawn well. Win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Missandei
Next Best – No Reward
Longshot – Royal Pegasus

TOP PICK
Kilmore Punters Guide

Race 7 – Beraldo Coffee Bm58 Handicap 2112m

Hezaforce has a great chance here to repeat the success of the run two starts back. SHowed great speed when coming from mid bpack to burst through for the win. Last start can be forgiven when running in to trouble mid race and losing ground that couldn’t be made up. Expected to go better here and will be one of the chances. Skyfire may have a few more boxes ticked than the top pick, including a solid last start win. Unbeaten at track and distance and winner at distance last start carrying a monstrous 70.0kgs. Expected to go well again today. She’s A Diplomat has won and placed at this range on two attempts, shown the stamina and gait needed for today’s conditions. Running lighter and will be competitive.

Top Pick – Hezaforce
Next Best – Skyfire
Longshot/Value – She’s A Diplomat

TOP PICK
Kilmore Punters Guide

Race 8 – Hanson Cleaning Bm58 Handicap 1612m

The Wild Cat showed great form last start when winning over a shorter trip – but, that win suggested a step up wouldn’t be too much of an issue. Eaton in the saddle helps at the weights, and will be one of the top chances here. Weidman at longer odds is an impressive type that enjoys this type of distance and track condition. Footing should be churned and boggy by the time this race rolls around and that only suits the last start winner who retains the jockey from that effort. True chance. Sticks can’t be discounted here, despite not being a longshot, or a value point – has run well of late and on recent form, can be in the mix here.

Top Pick – The Wild Cat
Next Best – Weidman
Longshot/Value – Sticks

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Toowoomba

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia (Toowoomba Punters Guide)

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a good day yesterday, with multiple winners (4/7 top picks including a $9 winner in Madam Shazma as well as a $9.18 double up). We have a strong list of competitive races for the Toowoomba Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – ITHINK PROPERTY 3YO CLASS 1 PLATE 1210m

Small field of runners here, and, the value in this race lies in the debut winner, Welcome Nugget. Skye Bogenhuber has had a bit of a purple patch of late, but, gets one of the best rides of the day first up and won’t want to squander this chance. The distance suits Welcome Nugget, who scored on debut over the five furlongs, but, looked hungry for more, gets that today and is in good order.

Top Pick – Welcome Nugget
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 2 – WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS MAIDEN 870m

Beau Appo has the ride in this maiden with a debutant that has been talked about a bit through racing circles out that way from the Kemp stables. Awesome Katie has drawn a little wider than would be preferred, but, is in a favourable race that doesn’t feature a great deal of work and can just come out of the gate and let loose. Supposedly has a great deal of speed and a debut win wouldn’t be a surprise. Another unseen runner here in Yazzi Jean could be a value point in this race. Hannah English is riding well at the moment, and always does well at Toowoomba. Drawn well and is another that could win here – but, top pick preferred.

Top Pick – Awesome Katie
Next Best – Yazzi Jean

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 3 – ROCK TRADE INDUSTRIES CL4 HANDICAP 1300m

Leah Kilner may be an apprentice, but, she is certainly a jockey to keep an eye on, and, today, she has one of her best rides early on in Mishani Shiraz. Dropping in class significantly, distance suits and won’t have to work too much to get across in this small field. Winner at distance and placed in only effort at this class. One to beat here. Can’t overlook Boiling either. Stepping up slightly in class, won at distance previously, but, not really been competitive at this class. Will need to make the leap today.

Top Pick – Mishani Shiraz
Next Best – Boiling

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 4 – COCA COLA AMATIL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300m

This race maps as a pretty one sided affair with the short listed Tony’s Decree being the standout horse, and drawing perfectly for the race. Currently trading at sub $1.30, this race doesn’t present any value as this horse is a cut above the rest.

Top Pick – Tony’s Decree
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 5 – PRYDE’S EASIFEED CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1640m

The Showman hasn’t won since breaking its maiden this year, but, finds a beatable field here, and, Beau Appo will be looking to break his duck on the horse as well, riding twice for a second and a third. Small field, and drawn inside over a favourable distance. Ticks boxes today and should be right in it. On A High can’t be overlooked either. Progressive type that has been knocking on the door since returning from spell, has the improving Emily Ljung in the saddle and will be competitive throughout. Value point in this one will be in the Yoshida ride, Bernie’s Tiger. Steps up slightly in class today, Yoshida has yet to return a result lower than third in three rides, including a win a win a track and distance. Expect a bold run.

Top Pick – The Showman
Next Best – On A High
Longshot/Value – Bernie’s Tiger

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 6 – TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS BM65 HANDICAP 1210m

Stormy Grey was running out of its depths last start and the result proved it. Today, it drops back to a favourable class, distance and a field that doesn’t really have any true speed up front, allowing Stormy Grey to run a little off the pace and enjoy cover. Race before last, ran over this class, and won by 0.5L against a stronger field of runners. Maps well here and a win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Stormy Grey
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 7 – HELLO HARRY BM70 HANDICAP 1050m

Another short field of runners here today, with two real standouts that the market currently reflects at the time of writing. Viceman drops slightly in grade today, and has a slight edge over Captain Leo at this range. Closing sectionals favour Viceman in this race, who retains winning jockey from last effort and is yet to lose a race in this class. One to beat here.

Top Pick – Viceman
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 8 – PRO-CLEAR CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000m

Fionnlagh was super impressive winning last start and under Leah Kilner has a good chance to repeat that success. Stepping up slightly in class today, but, the surrounding runners are not overly impressive, and suggest that Fionnlagh has a slight edge despite the increase. Carrying the top weight here, but, it isn’t enough to be concerned about. Major concern is the wide barrier draw, but, has enough early speed to get behind the lead horses. Not much room for error over such a short trip, but, rates highly here. Mister Spinks and Matthew Hellyer can’t be overlooked here. Been knocking on the door since returning from spell and is going to be competitive again. Big Dan The Man was impressive when second up last time out, and, is coming in second up here today. Beau Appo has a history of striking late at big odds at this track, and a win wouldn’t shock here.

Top Pick – Fionnlagh
Next Best – Mister Spinks
Longshot – Big Dan The Man

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Ipswich

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The return of the Punters Guide has been getting results right off the bat, and, we are back again with another edition for the Ipswich race meet. Let’s not hold you back any longer – dive straight into the punters guide!

Race 1 – United Sports Club Maiden Handicap 2150m

La Firebird has been close at this distance previously, and, last outing can be forgiven when placed in a race against much better thoroughbreds. Making a significant drop in class today and will have every chance. The wide barrier is a concern is Plessis can’t get over, but,t he horse has a lot of natural ability here and the trainers have made the right choice with this race. Clear Sailing is a definite threat here, placed at this trip and needed much more in the last race as it wasn’t the distance it needs to truly fire – gets that here today and will be competitive with Lloyd in the saddle. Western Order is the value runner in the race here today, McGillivray knows how to win on horses over double digits, and, this horse really needs the step up in distance, and should only be racing over the ten furlong mark, gets that chance here today and a win wouldn’t surprise.

Top Pick – La Firebird
Next Best – Clear Sailing
Longshot – Western Order

TOP PICK

Race 2 – Wiseman Accountants Class 4 1666m

Prolific Belle is the pick of the bunch in this uninspiring race. Has shown good form over the distance previously, gets Ipswich striker Jeff lloyd in the saddle and is better for it. Expect a bold run. Red Colour is the next best here, dropping in class sharply and will look to be on the pace here, if Stewart can take Red Colour to the front and dictate the pace – will come very close. Value runner here is Legendary Luke. Last race ran on strongly for a big finish in second over a similar distance and class, could come close again here.

Top Pick – Prolific Belle
Next Best – Red Colour
Longshot – Legendary Luke

TOP PICK

Race 3 – Nichols Finance CG&E Maiden Plate 1350m

Zafox is the pick of the day here. Ran impressively last up over the same distance, and, strips fitter for it here. Shown a good turn of foot and is in a field of maidens that isn’t oozing with speed. Best of the day at Ipswich. If there is a horse to upset Zafox, it will be Animal Instinct. Drawn well and finished closed previously with two second placings. Ready to strike and, if Zafox gets some bad luck, Animal Instinct will be there to capitalise. Longshot value here is on Dakota Sun, has finished strongly in the past, but, yet to hit a minor – today could be the day.

Top Pick – Zafox
Next Best – Animal Instinct
Longshot – Dakota Sun

TOP PICK

Race 4 – Barb Wellings F&M Maiden Plate 1350m

Moonmo has been knocking on the door in its last four starts and has come so close to holding on to the win multiple times now. Is in a good spot here, as the short priced favourite has yet to show that it deserves its current price tag. This one presents as a two horse race between Moonmo and My Delilah, with Moonmo having the edge, coming close in races against far more talented horses. My Delilah has to be the next best here, despite its undeserved pricetag. Finished a respectable second last start, but, before that, ran an ugly fourth against a field of today’s quality. If it rehashes the effort from two back, will not reach a minor – ready to show something today. Mystic Eyes is the best of the rest here. Hit the minors last two starts and, is ready to peak here, has a good turn of foot and late pace could surprise the field here.

Top Pick – Moonmo
Next Best – My Delilah
Longshot – Mystic Eyes

TOP PICK

Race 5 – Crimestoppers Raceday Class 3 1200m

This race is another case of the favourite not showing that it deserves its price tag. The form of Jet Cracker leading into this race has been far better than short priced Cool Mover. Jet Cracker under the guidance of Jimmy Orman will be right there at the end of this one, will do well to not get blocked coming from the squeeze gate though. Jet Cracker will look to roll forward early, and, if it can stay with the favourite – has a better turn of foot, and can get this one. Can’t leave out Cool Mover here, as it is a good enough horse to beat this field, it just needs to show better than the last two starts. Definite threat. Falkirk Drive is the value runner here in this one. Coming on the back of some solid runs over distance, retaining the same jockey from those efforts. Can go close here.

Top Pick – Jet Cracker
Next Best – Cool Mover
Longshot – Falkirk Drive

TOP PICK

Race 6 – Ipswich LIAG/Club Services 0-60 1200m

Manila Miss from the Doyle stables, is a definite danger here. Dropping sharply in class and a winner over this trip and class previously, has to be respected. Plessis has the ride, and this is one of his top hopes on the day. Manila Miss has shown a good turn of foot and has come close first up before. Expect a bold showing. Scotchview has drawn awkwardly here, but, off last start, is one of the top chances in this race. Rebekah Williams was the winning jockey on debut with Scotchview, and, producing a similar ride to this effort will put Scotchview right there at the end. One to watch. This is the type of race that Cahill would appear in, and his ride, The Hussler will have every chance. Drawn wide, but, the duo struck last time out as odds on favourites, and, despite not being respected in betting, will be one of the late swoopers in this one. If Cahill times it right – The Hussler could steal this one.

Top Pick – Manila Miss
Next Best – Scotchview
Longshot – The Hussler

TOP PICK

Race 7 – Riverlink Shopping Centre Class 2 1350m

Desert Rush will look to live up to its name by pushing forward to get near the lead, where it will most likely be joined by favourite, Ruler’s Pride. Jeff Lloyd will give Desert Rush every chance here, Desert Rush won impressively last start, digging deep to beat the rest of the field by almost a length. If Lloyd can produce anything similar to last effort it will have every chance of winning in this one. Ruler’s Pride has to be the next best here, it has earned that, may be a false favourite as it stands, but,. is sitting there because of the clear lack of talent and any direct threat in this one. Dropping in class here, and, Thornton will need to replicate a similar ride to last outing when finishing a respectable fourth against better horses. NOble Billy steps up in grade and cops a bad barrier, but, is a definite chance here today at wide odds. Won from a wide barrier last start against a mixed field as today. Plumb, who has a good strike rate at the Ipswich track – will be looking to replicate Noble Billy’s last up winning effort here in a winnable race.

Top Pick – Desert Rush
Next Best – Ruler’s Pride
Longshot – Noble Billy
