The return of the Punters Guide has been getting results right off the bat, and, we are back again with another edition for the Rosehill race meet. Let’s not hold you back any longer – dive straight into the punters guide!

Race 1 – TAB Highway Handicap 1100m

Table Mountain is coming in fresh here, and, if it can keep its strong form from before the break, it will be right in this one. Table Mountain has shown a stronger turn of foot previously than the favourite, and, gets benefit of the doubt here fresh. Jet Girl is the obvious next best selection here. Blake Shinn has been riding great at Rosehill, but, has struggled immensely to win on horses running under $3.50. Winner of last two starts, and one over this distance – expect it to back that up with another strong effort here today. Bon Allen is the outside value in the first race, winner over distance against a similar class group. Enjoys a crowded field with a bit of pace, which is on offer here today, a win wouldn’t surprise.

Top Pick – Table Mountain
Next Best – Jet Girl
Longshot – Bon Allen

Race 2 – Fairfield RSL Club Handicap 2000m

Eshtikraaj has been knocking on the door over and over again without much success this prep, but, third up today and ready to peak, Eshtikraaj finds itself in an extremely winnable race. Distance and class are optimal, and Eshtikraaj has no excuse to not hit the line first in this one. The Macallan steps up slightly in grade here today and is definitely in the mix. While the favourite has its claims, The Macallan has shown a better turn of foot, and is going to sit just off the lead horses and get an easy run through most, which maps as a slow-ish type of race. Expected to make a bold run today. Best value in this race is Fireman Sam I Am, winner last start over distance beating talented horse Corinth in the process. While it does look a little out of its depth here, this horse has that deep burning drive that could be seen again here, if it gets to the front and is unrelenting again, Fireman Sam I Am will be right in this one.

Top Pick – Eshtikraaj
Next Best – The Macallan
Longshot – Fireman Sam I Am

Race 3 – St.Johns Park Bowling Club 1500m

Island Missile will be the one to beat in this race, and so far, bettor are in agreeance. Island Missile is the current tote favourite at the time of writing, and, deservedly so. Island Missile ticks a lot of boxes in this one. Dropping down in class slightly, won over the distance previously and is in great form coming in off a third and a first in last two respectively. Be hard to keep out here. Over this type of race, you can never count out a Snitzel runner. Snitzel Day is the next best option here, has the bloodline, a form jockey in Kerron McEvoy and is coming in on the back of an impressive second. Winning form. Surjin is the best of the rest here. Good form line headed into this one, winner at distance and has been competitive in this class before. Needs to get to the lead to dictate the pace of the race to have a real chance here.

Top Pick – Island Missile
Next Best – Snitzel Day
Longshot – Surjin

Race 4 – Dooley’s Handicap 1400m

Sweet Scandal may have missed the win on debut, finishing a gamely second, but, has only been a winner since. Returning again today looking for the four-peat, and has a field that doesn’t have the sectionals to keep up over the final furlong. Bowman is in line for a good start to the Rosehill meet. One to beat here. Main danger comes in the form of Rachel Kings and Istria. Second up today – winner second up before and has shown good speed previously. Still fresh and can run gamely here. Danger horse. Our Malambo is a definite danger here, weaved through traffic to score over the six furlong mark last start, and has the opportunity to do so again here. The extra furlong is a question mark, but, with a well timed run, will be right in the mix again.

Top Pick – Sweet Scandal
Next Best – Istria
Longshot – Our Malambo

Race 5 – Campbelltown Catholic Club 1100m

This one maps out as a two horse race, with Tactical Advantage holding all the cards. Winner at distance multiple times, dropping significantly in class, drawn well and get an upgrade in the saddle. Expected run just off the pace, and will have every chance at the end here. Next horse to keep this one interesting is the McEvoy ride, Trekking. Stepping up slightly in class today, but, still a danger horse in this one. Winner first up previously and will look to ride on the shoulder of Tactical Advantage. Best of the rest here is Diddums. Slight drop in class, good strike rate first up, and over the distance and will be looking to lead in this one. Once in front, could prove hard to track down.

Top Pick – Tactical Advantage
Next Best – Trekking
Longshot – Diddums

Race 6 – Smithfield RSL Club Rosebud 1100m

Plague Stone looked sharp first up – winning by half a length and, with the extra 100 metres that today, offers, may have won by more that day. Plague Stone will look to sit just off the lead horses and come on strong down the straight. Expected to be right there in the finish. Charge has drawn a tricky barrier in this one, but, is a definite danger on previous effort. Ran home strongly when winning over this distance first up. Second up today and looks in good order again here today. Jockey change doesn’t create any new questions with Jay Ford taking the ride. Collett may be out of form at the moment, but, the last he teamed up with Golden Tycoon, it was a strong win by almost two lengths. That type of gap won’t happen again, but, based on last run – a repeat here wouldn’t be a surprise. A little over the odds, and should be right in this.

Top Pick – Plague Stone
Next Best – Charge
Longshot – Golden Tycoon

Race 7 – Premier’s Cup Prelude 1800m

Carzoff is the one to beat here. This is Tommy Berry’s best for the day, and, don’t expect him to squander it. Carzoff will look to start fast and get near the lead. Has shown a great turn of foot previously and has won over this distance, at this track as well as winning at this class. One to beat. Harper’s Choice is the next best here. Winner at distance, class and track previously and ticks a lot of boxes again here today. Taking on a furlong less which is better suited to normal – definite chance here. Value horse of the race here is Dark Eyes. Dark Eyes will look to bolt to the lead quickly, and then try to outpace the rest of the field, has done so before and there is no reason it can’t today if Dark Eyes can get a good start. Win wouldn’t surprise.

Top Pick – Carzoff
Next Best – Harper’s Choice
Longshot – Dark Eyes

Race 8 – Hurlstone Park RSL Spring Preview 1400m

I Am Serious is the one to beat here. First up and winner first up previously, drawn well, but will look to settle midfield. Will need a bit of luck to not get stuck in traffic, but, if it can get free, has the sectional speed to beat this field. Invinzabeel is a horse that should never be discredited. Had a bit of a rough trot form wise since resuming this prep – but, this is a winnable race and one that can give the horse some confidence back. Blake Shinn will need to put in the work here to get the win, but, Invizabeel is a talented horse and will go closer than last efforts here. Another chance from the Waugh stable – Shiraz has a good chance at value here. Angland has the ride and Shiraz has won at distnace, track and class previously. One to put among the chances.

Top Pick – I Am Serious
Next Best – Invinzabeel
Longshot – Shiraz

Race 9 – Club NSW Handicap 1350m

Back on the favourite train here, as Paret is one of the top runners of the day here. Won impressively last start and is going to be right there again today. Field of runners bar a few don’t present much danger to Paret’s closing speed when at its best, and, if Bowman can hit the lane, Paret will be hard to beat. The next best here is Tye Angland’s ride on Absolute. The better of the two Godolphin chances here today, has drawn a tricky barrier, but, has the early speed to overcome this. Will need a bit of luck to not get caught wide, but, if it can catch a break, will be right in it. Value horse of the last race of the day is Mr.Tickets with Tim Clark in the saddle. Handy type that has shown its best previously, winning over this distance. Steps down slightly in class and has every chance here today.

Top Pick – Paret
Next Best – Absolute
Longshot – Mr.Tickets
