Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Rockhampton

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia (Rockhampton Punters Guide)

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a good day yesterday, with multiple winners. We have a strong list of competitive races for the Rockhampton Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – RJC- CELEBRATING 150 YEARS RACING 1800m

Aloofs Turf won impressively when swooping late last race, finds a similar field here today, and, retains winning jockey from last ride. Last race was over this distance at this track and looks primed for a repeat performance again here today. Extra Cover looks poised for a big race, but, Aloofs Turf will be up to task.

Top Pick – Aloof’s Turf
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Rockhampton Punters Guide

Race 2 – CENTRAL PARK MOTEL 3YO HANDICAP 1200m

The last time The Tax Accountant ran out, it was a dominating victory. We were on The Tax Accountant first up last start and we are going to be on again here despite there being another horse that can be competitive here in Our Top Shelf. However, The Tax Accountant gets Justin Stanley back in the saddle after the last ride, and, will have every chance to get that back-to-back streak going here against a small field that lacks the top end speed that The Tax Accountant showed over the final furlong last start. Best of the day at Rockhampton – unfortunately, the bookmakers know this too and there is not value this time around.

Top Pick – The Tax Accountant
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Rockhampton Punters Guide

Race 3 – BILL REID RACING CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1400m

Another small field, and, it is one that class dropper All Eez should be able to take advantage of. Running at a respectable weight in this one, and, has shown great turn of foot. The seven furlongs suits here, and All Eez has saluted at this track on one attempt previously. Expect another bold showing again here today. Craiglea Cetina is another class dropper that could cause some issues for the top pick, but, will need some luck to get up here.

Top Pick – All Eez
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Rockhampton Punters Guide

Race 4 – NICK DALEY PLUMBING CLASS 6 1200m

Nathan Day gets his best ride in a while here on Chief Advocate, who has drawn well, is a winner at this track and distance, but yet to fire at this class. Finds a beatable field here today and has been very consistent since its win three starts back, following it up with an impressive second and a third. Main danger here is The Baker, who has a good career record, but, can be hit and miss at times. Stay with consistency, and that is Chief Advocate.

Top Pick – Chief Advocate
No next best – No Third Divdend

TOP PICK

Race 5 – CHAMP RESOURCES MAIDEN PLATE 1400m

Whoosh ran impressively last start, and, looked like that with a little more leg room – would have gone on to win. Has shown improvement, and the extra half furlong will be welcomed today. Drawn well on the rail and should be able to get cover throughout and has a late speed edge over the favourite. Top chance. Colorado River disappointed last start when dropping off quickly on the straight. Should be fitter for that effort here today and can go close. Bel Sands could be the value point in this race. Shown great improvement since spell, when running on gamely for third with today’s jockey. Hasn’t shown its best yet, but, today could be the day.

Top Pick – Whoosh
Next Best – Colorado River
Longshot – Bel Sands

TOP PICK
Rockhampton Punters Guide

Race 6 – GERRARDS HORSE&HOUND AWARDS 15 SEP 1050m

Blazeray has been put in a race with favourable conditions where nothing other than a win will be acceptable. A lot of pressure on the shoulders of Les Tilley in this one, especially after Blzaeray’s last disappointing effort. Drawn well against a weaker field of runners and gets its chance today. Odds aren’t worth the risk however, as this horse can go absent. Rapt In Black is the danger horse here, much like the top pick, has won at distance, and track, but, is very hit and miss. Can run a big race, or disappear completely, very high ceiling and very low floor. At its best, can be competitive.

Top Pick – Blazeray
Next Best – Rapt In Black
Longshot – Coral Seas

TOP PICK
Rockhampton Punters Guide

Race 7 – MILNE BROS 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1200m

Nasty Gal has been knocking on the door over its last few starts, gets the awkward gate today, but, has the early speed to overcome this, however, will be more suited to dropping back midfield and getting cover. Expecting better here, and, based on sectionals should be able to push through and put the climax on on the 4,3,2 run. Margo Maree is the next best here. Has been there abouts over the last handful of starts and is going to be in the mix again here. Another awkward draw, but has the edge dropping in class. The value point here is A Little Bit More. Has run well in the past and was a winner two starts back. Expected to run well again today and is currently trading at good value at the time of writing.

Top Pick – Nasty Gal
Next Best – Margo Maree
Longshot – A Little Bit More

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Townsville

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a break yesterday. We have a few competitive races in Townsville Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – HYGAIN RELEASE QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1000m

Our Alicia’s Lane is the best of the day here at Townsville. Gets winning jockey Sam Sheargold back in the saddle and is running over favourable track and distance. At this distance, weight and class, Our Alicia’s Lane has run just over one second faster than the next best in the race You Know The One. One of the more progressive types at Townsville today, will be an uptempo race here which suits Our Alicia’s Lane. Should be under evens closer to the jump.

Top Pick – Our Alicia’s Lane
No next best – No third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 2 – UBET MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m

Lucky Connection could start the day well for favourite backers here, as Chris Whiteley returns for the mount and this horse ran an impressive second over this trip last attempt against a stronger field. Last start ran on gamely behind Fox Street and, with a bit more luck, can go better here. Strong contender here is in the Bel Danoro runner, Daesy Danoro. Ran a strong third in first up effort last up and, the aged maiden can finally break that here against a beatable field.

Top Pick – Lucky Connection
Next Best – Daesy Danoro
No third pick – No third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 3 – LAZY YAK OPEN HANDICAP 1200m

First of the truly open races here today at Townsville, and, it maps as a two horse race with two standouts. Nathan Day has a great record at this track, and, he will be looking to complete the favourite hattrick at this rate. However, Adam Spinks and Blazing Steel have too good of a connection to look past. Impressive last start winning duo over distance and track. The Smart Missile gelding has been on the up and can string two wins together here. Septimo is the clear danger here, and, is progressing well with a flashy fourth last start. Would be happier to take Septimo is this was over seven and half furlongs, which maps a bit more suitable, shown good late speed but, will need to be at its best to top Blazing Steel.

Top Pick – Blazing Steel
Next Best – Septimo
No third pick – No third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 4 – SKY RACING BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1609m

Chelsea Jokic has big upset potential here on Donavia, who steps up sharply in grade here, but, is every chance to win this. Winner at distance and placed last start, but, was impressive in doing so when carrying 61.5Kgs. Expected to run well again today and represents great value. Forgive Me can’t be overlooked here either, another one of the top rides of the day for Adam Spinks and, can find its best here today. Zumari may be 8-years-old, but, has been its most competitive over this distance, and recent form would suggest that it is due to hit the line hard if it stays true to its own form. Must be included.

Top Pick – Donavia
Next Best – Forgive Me
Longshot – Zumari

TOP PICK

Race 5 – MATER HEALTH SERVICES BENCHMARK 70 1400m

Sonja Wiseman has her best chance of the day here on Party Pies. Impressive winner last start at big odds over track and distance and will be running light again with winning jockey from that ride. Hard to beat. Next best here is Better Future being ridden by Danny Edmonds. Last race can be forgiven when running out of hits depth and copping interference. Drops in class here today, and, will be better for it. Distance, class and track all suit here. Peter Cullen and Lokum could be the value in this race, currently at $6 at time of writing, has shown enough recently to suggest that it will be up to the task here. Drawn well, and, in this smaller field, will have every chance.

Top Pick – Party Pies
Next Best – Better Future
Longshot – Lokum

TOP PICK

Race 6 – TOWNSVILLE JAGUAR LAND ROVER BM 65 1000m

Binaconi has produced some great sprinters, The Flash One is certainly not one of those, but, it has produced some great sprints over its last two runs. Getting an upgrade in the saddle today, over a favourable distance at track it has come close at previously brightens the prospects. One of the top chances here. Disappointed with the extra furlong last up, stepping back to the five furlongs here today, and, Sam Sheargold and Mongole Fire will have every chance to show sharp improvement here today. Beatbale field and can get back in the winners circle here. Freeze’N’Tease needs to be included here. Dropping in class slightly, disappointing at the six furlongs, so, being dropped back to the five furlongs here, won at this trip and track last effort with today’s jockey. Expect a bold run.

Top Pick – The Flash One
Next Best – Mongole Fire
Longshot/Value – Freeze’N’Tease

TOP PICK

Race 7 – WEDDING VENUES TTC CLASS 2 1200m

Feringo has been placed in this race by connections with no other thought than, this horse will win this race. Dropping in class significantly, getting form jockey, Justin Stanley in the saddle and is second up today after a good run firstup over track and distance. Looks the one to beat here on form and class. Rising King is the next best here. Winner at track, winner at distance, but, yet to fire at class, today could be the day as it is in good order and is ready to peak here. David Simmons has the value runner here in Aztec Warrior. Strong performer over the track, and, has won at this distance previously. Last race win over the five furlongs, and, looked like it could have kept going. Definite chance here.

Top Pick – Feringo
Next Best – Rising King
Longshot – Aztec Warrior

TOP PICK

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Morphettville

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns to form, nailing back-to-back quaddies this week. With some big fields, and a few competitive races – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Backing up from a medium day yesterday at Taree.

Race 1 – DOWIE DOOLE HURDLE 3100m

Not really much to be said here, Morphettville kicks the day off with a hurdle race – which Killarney Kid is the only winning hope in. Not much else needs to be said here, the market reflects this.

Top Pick – Killarney Kid
No next best – No second or third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 2 – UBET HANDICAP 1050m

Another small field to kick things off here at Morphettville, and, another one horse race in a small field. Jamie Kah and the Dabernig stable are the top hope here on Thine Is The Power, on what looks to be a sloppy day at the South Australian track with moderate rain forecasted.

Top Pick – Thine Is The Power
No next best – No second or third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 3 – HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY HARRY PERKS 2000m

Another Weir runner here that looks to add another early win for the stable in Kellstorm. In what is looking like a day for favourites early on – Kellstorm drops significantly in class here (-12) looking for the win, and should be able to get it. Super Swoop is a looming danger, especially with the form of Raquel Clark who has the ride. And, if you are a value hunter – a win from Little Akie wouldn’t be a shock here either.

Top Pick – Kellstorm
Next Best – Super Swoop
Longshot – Little Akie

TOP PICK

Race 4 – IRISH RACE DAY -1/9 HANDICAP 1050m

Another race that maps like a battle between the two favourite here, with Thompson Reward holding the edge. Kayla Crowther has one of her best chances here on the improving Reward For Effort gelding. Winner over this distance previously, as well as at track and is dropping in class here. One to beat. Debt Collector is another one of the chances here today, also dropping in class winning over distance and track as well. Will be a tough race between the two lead horses here. Value runner here is in Extreme Thrill. Second up here today and winner second up previously, placed twice on softer going as well. One to watch.

Top Pick – Thompson’s Reward
Next Best – Debt Collector
Longshot – Extreme Thrill

TOP PICK

Race 5 – THIRSTY CAMEL CUP LAWN PARTY 21/12 1600m

Another favourite here, but, at good odds at the moment, with Extreme Witness still floating at $6.00 at time of writing. Most consistent here and looking to get first win at the Morphettville track. Has shown plenty of promise and, at its best, is too good for this field. Froggy Newitt and Minoan Spirit can’t be looked past here, quality horse with a jockey that loves the Morphettville track. Expected to go close here. Big value here on Holy Juan, it is a true winning chance and the odds don’t reflect this currently. Last start can be forgiven when boxing on into traffic and not getting a lane, three starts back ran on well for a contested third with an extra furlong, may have gone two better, a run close to that effort, would be good enough here.

Top Pick – Extreme Witness
Next Best – Minoan Spirit
Longshot – Holy Juan

TOP PICK

Race 6 – AAMI SPRING CARNIVAL 20 OCT-6 NOV 1200m

It;s Time For Magic is the one to beat here, Emily Finnegan will be carrying a light weight here on the impressive sprinter, which is a big bonus here as the track conditions should be abysmal by this race. Freshened for four weeks and ran a strong trial on the soft before this race. Winner first up before, winner at distance, and placed one one try at the track. Could be on the money here today. Georgina Cartwright has the next best here in Lucky Fish, dropping in class slightly, has a strong, powerful gait that will help with the track conditions and has a big engine. Don’t take lightly. Winner at distance previously, Bellomo will have that chance again here at long odds. Will need some luck to pull this off, but, last start fourth was impressive against a much stronger field. Win wouldn’t surprise.

Top Pick – It’s Time For Magic
Next Best – Lucky Fish
Longshot – Bellomo

TOP PICK

Race 7 – DAVID R COLES AM SPRING STAKES 1200m

Jamie Kah has the one you want to be on here in Dollar For Dollar – not to be confused with here regular ride Dollar Dollar. Impressive on boggy tracks, slight drop in class and a 100% strike rate at the distance. If Kah can stay near the front, will have every chance. Inn Keeper must be included here, unbeaten on heavy track conditions, won four of last five and non winning effort was a close second. Drawn well and has every chance here. Emily Finnegan has a true chance here at long odds in Tatoosh. The Irish hoop will have a horse that is a winner first up, strong performer on heavy and showed strong winning form before going on spell. Should have residual fitness here and will go close.

Top Pick – Dollar For Dollar
Next Best – Inn Keeper
Longshot – Tatoosh

TOP PICK

Race 8 – HEINEKEN 3 HANDICAP 1200m

Miss Coolangatta comes into this one with a great form line and maps well here. Justin Potter has a very good strike rate in South Australia’s at winning the last race on a card, and, he has a big chance to improve on that here. Strong place on heavy conditions, winner at distance and class. Expected to handle this one well. Top hope. Jamie Kah has another big chance here in Moghul Empire, coming in fresh after a 119 day spell and targeting a softer race dropping significantly in class. Wise And Happy is the value here, coming in with great form, and getting Eran Boyd back in the saddle who turned in an eye catching third last time they combined. AN effort close to that, and will be right in it here.

Top Pick – Miss Coolangatta
Next Best – Moghul Empire
Longshot – Wise And Happy

TOP PICK

QUADDIE FOR THE MEET

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Taree

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns to form, nailing back-to-back quaddies. With some big fields, and a few competitive races – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Backing up from a big day yesterday, including a quaddie win at Newcastle.

Race 1 – HICKS BUSINESS SERVICES F&M MAIDEN 1250m

Tartufo Bianco is the pick of the opener here. Impressive last start on debut and unlucky to just miss its debut win. Has an easier field here and gets the extra metres it needed to win last start. Expect a bold run here today. Lees has a good chance at taking the first with the two best horses in the opener with Tartufo Bianco and Think Free. The So You Think filly is on debut here but, from all accounts is ready to fire. Has the pedigree and willing to take it on here. Longshot value in this one goes to Le Faberge, strong run second last start, and, anything close to that form will have him close again. One to watch.

Top Pick – Tartufo Bianco
Next Best – Think Free
Longshot – Le Faberge

TOP PICK

Race 2 – PAGE ELEVEN MARKETING CG&E MAIDEN 1250m

Eskimo Commander put in a lot of hard work last start and, is ready to fire here today. The favourite doesn’t have what you want on debut – doesn’t mean it can’t run well, but, it doesn’t rate well here where Eskimo Commander only needs to replicate last effort to win here. Big engine and can win this one second up. The Excites gelding here is the next best option. Neptune was disappointing last start on a first up effort, will be second up here today and strips fitter. Slight drop in class as well which helps, and, will go close. Chasin makes a small drop in class today, but is second up here today, and placed second up previously. Has the ability to win here and is slightly over where it should be valued.

Top Pick – Eskimo Commander
Next Best – Neptune
Longshot – Chasin

TOP PICK

Race 3 – EDDIES FRESH CHICKENS PLATE 1600m

Grand Soleil is an undeserving short priced favourite here, this doesn’t mean that it can’t win, but, it represents no value – and it hasn’t proven that it can beat this field even dropping in grade to have an edge. Unimpressive over last few starts which really opens the door to some value here. Best value here is in the impressive Eye Was, who had an eye catching win last start when beating James Richard, at this track with the same jockey, nothing says that it can be repeated. Our Espostio is another impressive runner that scored a good win last up, and, has the in form Rachel Murray in the saddle. Expect another bold run here again today. Ravitude is another here with legitimate claims, good value, has shown good late speed that could capitalise on a slowish looking race. Win wouldn’t surprise.

Top Pick – Eye Was
Next Best – Our Esposito
Longshot – Ravitude

TOP PICK

Race 4 – DAWSONS WHOLESALE SMALLGOODS 2000m

Serious Dancer has been prepped for this race well, and comes in on a good run of form, with back to back seconds and looking to go one better over the right distance here. Looked hungry for more running room over last couple of efforts and is getting that lift here today while also dropping in class. One to beat. Miss Zodiac has been just off the money on five of eight runs over this distance, and, will be the speed horse of this race. Expected to sit off the pace and use that strong turn of foot to get this one late. Expect a bold run. Value runner here today is Clune’s Rocket. The old 9-year-old still has plenty left in the tank and is a getting its first try at the ten furlongs today. One to keep an eye on here can win.

Top Pick – Serious Dancer
Next Best – Miss Zodiac
Longshot – Clune’s Rocket

TOP PICK

Race 5 – TAREE SPORTS CLUB BENCHMARK 58 1000m

Tough race here to start the quaddie in one of the most open races of the day. But, the nod here will go to Belinda Hodder and Stoddart. If Hodder can overcome the wide barrier, she will be right in this one. Stoddart enjoys riding just off the lead horses and, with a bit of luck, will be able to get across without getting caught wide. If Hodder can save some stamina for the end of the race without too much early work – Stoddart can win this, showing a great turn of foot previously. Typhoon Bonny would be the top pick here if not coming in off a spell. Has won first up previously and gets the claim with Graham in the saddle as well as dropping in class. Has every chance to win here. Best value is Outsmartem, dropping in class, but, caught a wide barrier and will need to get across early. However, Outsmartem possesses a lot of early speed and will look to push to the lead. If it can dictate the pace of the race, it has shown that it can go post-to-post previously.

Top Pick – Stoddart
Next Best – Typhoon Bonny
Longshot – Outsmartem

TOP PICK

Race 6 – R & L REFRIGERATION CLASS 1 1000m

At short odds – Foxy’s Foxinator maps too well for this field and the market is reflecting this. Belinda Hodder doesn’t squander chances like this, and, with the added kicker of running well from a wide barrier, Foxy’s Foxinator will prove hard to beat here. Impulsive Maneuver is a real threat here. Coming in fresh and placed first-up previously, gets the in form McGuren in the saddle, expect a bold run here. Allez Rev is the best of the rest here. Hull has run in a strong third with this horse last start in this class and distance – will be thereabouts again.

Top Pick – Foxy’s Foxinator
Next Best – Impulsive Maneuver
Longshot – Allez Rev

TOP PICK

Race 7 – MNCRA AWARDS HOPKINS LIVERMORE CUP 1400m

Another rather open race here, with a few that look every chance to win it. However, the one that maps the best here is the Steven Fell trained and Andrew Gibbons ridden Alot Like Home. Gibbons rode for an impressive win over six furlongs last start and, the trainer promptly moved the horse up to seven furlongs for this race. Has all the potential to repeat last start success as when winning looked like it could have kept going. Marathon can’t be ignored here. Winner of five from nine attempts at the distance, running lighter here by 7kgs compared to last start third, a win here wouldn’t surprise. Profiler is the value runner here, winner at class and distance previously, last start third was impressive when running against a better field of runners. Can go close.

Top Pick – Alot Like Home
Next Best – Marathon
Longshot – Profiler

Top Pick

Race 8 – TAREE TRUCK CENTRE CLASS 2 1400m

Another tricky race here, with two real big standouts, but, the nod goes to the one with value in Saint Denis. Ran impressively this prep to grab multiple seconds, and, maps well against this field. Only missed last race as Hermosa Reward had a great kick in the dying embers of the race. Run similar to last outing will be enough here. African Guy is the next best. Form is strong being just off a win over last three starts and will be looking to finish this one off a little better than last when just not having that little bit more. Has the ability, just needs some luck from the wider gate. Sniponet has been prepped for this race after a disappointing fifth last start, Gibbons has the ride and has drawn well near the rail. will look to roll forward and fight for leadership with Saint Denis, track favours lead horses and could do enough to win here.

Top Pick – Saint Denis
Next Best – African Guy
Longshot/Value – Sniponet

TOP PICK

QUADDIE FOR THE MEET
