IEM Sydney Intel Extreme Masters Grand Final Coverage

It is the Grand Final of IEM Sydney today and we are waiting on Astralis to complete our futures bet against Faze Clan today. WHile Faze Clan may have overcome an extremely poor start to make the Grand Final of this major – Astralis are still in a much better position to take out this event.

IEM Sydney Grand Final
Astralis v Faze Clan

This is going to be an absolute blockbuster – the Australian crowd has been the best crowd at a major so far this season and it hasn’t even been close! This final is what the crowd deserves, although, it may have been even bigger if Renegades didn’t blow it leading into the final.

However, this isn’t about how good the event has been, this is about how good this final is going to be, and it is going to be that good if you are putting your money on all things Astralis. Yesterday on Inferno, Astralis laid the bait for Faze Clan to select the map as they “struggled” and eventually lost to it against Mousesports in the semi-final. However, this is a classive bait. They want Faze to pick this map so that it frees them up to pick two maps that suit them, while Faze pick a map that suits them.

Expected map picks and single veot’s
Astralis pick Mirage
Astralis pick Overpass
Faze Clan pick Inferno
Faze Clan pick Cache
Astralis veto Train
Faze Clan veto Nuke
Left over Dust 2

Faze won’t want to be facing Astralis on Nuke as they are lights out on it, which frees Astralis to take one of their best maps in Overpass, which should be a comfortable win for them as Faze have looked a little lost on Overpass throughout the tournament. Essentially, this is Astralis game to lose. These map selections are extremely likely. Dust 2 will be left, Astralis won’t ban it considering how badly they emulsified Mousesports on it in the semi-finals.

For Faze, this game really rests on the shoulders of Niko and Guardian, these two need to be an absolute force in order for Faze to stand a chance of winning even on map with these selections. Astralis, despite Device feeling a little under the weather, are the best team in the world at Counter Strike right now, and, they are going to be back-to-back major winners after today is over.

Maps that Astralis will win against Faze are Mirage, Overpass, Cache and possibly even Inferno. If Astralis do take an early 2-0 lead, then this will be over rather quickly today. This is a best of five, and three map wins are required for victory. But, today, you are throwing away money if you bet against Astralis.

Astralis Match Line -1.5 on Bet365 @ $1.66/-152
Astralis correct score 3-1 on Unibet @ $3.75/+275

IEM Sydney Intel Extreme Masters Day 3 Coverage

Today marks the first full knockout day for the 2018 IEM Sydney Extreme Intel Masters event. After a solid day yesterday, including multiple plus money winners – we return today to replicate that success.

Day Three Round Analysis

MVP.PK v Mousesports

This is going to be a closer match than many expect. Mousesports looked like they didn’t belong at the tournament yesterday as Astralis made a mockery of them. Mousesports will need to bounce back today against an emerging Asian side that has some real talent individually. Expectations here though are that even with Styko continuing to pull down the quality of this roster, that they still have what it takes to beat MVP.PK straight up with a 2-0 result.

BEST BET – Mousesports -1.5 Match Line @ $1.65/-154 on UNIBET

NRG eSports v G2

G2 had somewhat of a resurgence yesterday, almost beating out Fnatic, but, ultimately fell short. That match was closer than it should have been, and, some rather poor errors of judgement on an individual level led to G2 having a chance on the first and last maps. DOn’t expect a red hot NRG to afford similar opportunities here. CerQ is one of the most sort after players and, if NRG don’t offer him a decent enough contract to stick with the side, he will most likely move to a tier one team in order to get more LAN experience. G2 have KennyS in a similar role, but, CerQ is playing much better. This is definitely a game that NRG eSports could take.

BEST BET – Map 1 OVER 26.5 rounds @ $1.80/-125 on UNIBET

Cloud9 v Faze Clan

You wouldn’t think that this would be a sentence you would read about these two sides, but, both don’t look like tier one sides, and are really going to be offering a really poor game here today. The scoreline might show a good game, but, in all likeliness, it is a poor match from a skill stand point and Cloud 9 are able to steal a map due to Faze playing a redundant style of Counter Strike that worked a year or so ago, but, really doesn’t in today’s game. The best bet here is for this one to go to three maps.

BEST BET – Match Total OVER 2.5 Maps @ $1.90/-110 on UNIBET

Renegades v Tyloo

The surprise package that is Tyloo, will be hoping that this golden run will continue by beating the best side left from the Australian scene, despite Renegades playing in the ultra competitive North American circuit. Tyloo will be hoping that big games from the likes of BnTet and Captain Mo continue to happen as Ustillo and Azr continue to wreak havoc for the Boys. However, both teams look poised to win their own map picks here and, we lean more towards Renegades winning this one outright.

BEST BET – Match Total OVER 2.5 Maps @ $1.85/-118 on UNIBET

Astralis v Fnatic

This will be a walk in the park for Astralis after what they showed yesterday. Fnatic made too many errors against G2 and these are things you just can’t do against a side like Astralis. Krimz may be playing out of this world individually, but, players like JW and Flusha are really in and out of form, and, you can’t have an form on inconsistency against Astralis. Likely maps pool will be Dust 2, Cache and Train. It would be a big mistake for Fnatic to let Astralis take Overpass, that would be an instant 1-0 start. Regardless of what Fnatic pick, it is hard to see this being anything other than a quick 2-0 for Astralis.

Astralis to win 2-0 @ $1.60/-157
Astralis -4.5 Map 1 @ $2.00/+100

IEM Sydney Intel Extreme Masters Day 2 Coverage

Bit of a rough outing yesterday for everyone, the teams included. Some stepped up, others fell by the wayside. SK Gaming were eliminated in two, falling to the likes of Tyloo and Grayhound Gaming. Tyloo have emerged as a real threat at this major, where the production of Order and Chiefs has fallen off largely.

The Australian teams started off slowly at home, but then ended up bringing it home strong with Order winning 2-0, Grayhound eliminating SK Gaming and Renegades defeating Faze Clan. Others teams such as Cloud 9 were very uninspiring after a hot start. Expectations were not met on day one as many top sides failed to perform. Out of the anyone’s game best of ones today and into the meat of the tournament.

Day Two Round Analysis

Boot[d]s v NRG

NRG were super impressive almost upending hot tournament favourites Astralis in their best of one, that went in to overtime where they eventually lost. Boot[d]s on the other hand, were very limp in their best of one, getting thoroughly handled by Mousesports. While NRG are not quite on the same level as Mousesports, this should be a quick 2-0 and, Boot[d]s will struggle to win 14 rounds overall.

BEST BET – Map 2 Match Total UNDER 25.5 rounds @ $1.86/-113 on Pinnacle

MVP.PK v Chiefs eSports

Both got absolutely destroyed in their respective best of one matches yesterday, and, this is the last chance for both to keep going at this tournament. MVP.PK were purely outclassed by G2 yesterday, despite having an early lead and looking like they might make a game of it. On a one for one player skill level, MVP.PK has better players, strat wise however, both are very similar and this could be an interesting match up should Chiefs bring their A-Game.

Chiefs will be hoping they can land Train or Cache against MVP.PK and will do what is possible to push MVP.PK to the absolute peak int his match. Expectation and reality however, are normally not aligned when it comes to wagering – but, from a pure spectator point of view, if Chiefs can play at their ebst, they can challenge MVP.PK, however, they will inevitably fall short. MVP.PK are the better side and will show that in this contest.

BEST BET – Map 1 UNDER 26.5 rounds @ $1.70/-143 on UNIBET

Cloud9 v Order

This, is a very unlikable matchup from a betting perspective. Both sides have not been at their best, and Cloud9 showed that they just are not clicking with FNS in their roster after being thoroughly handled by Tyloo. Order looked extremely below average as they tried to beat top level opponents in Faze, who were beaten by Renegades yesterday. Cloud9 are definitely not at their best, and Order has a real chance to steal a map here in this one is Alistair can lift his game and stop putting his team at a disadvantage time and time again.

BEST BET – Order +1.5 Map Line @ $2.20/+120 on UNIBET

Mousesports v Astralis

This should be the match of the day if both teams play at their best. It has been quite some time since these two met in an offline environment, but, here, they are going to give it their all as these two teams before Dreamhack, looked very even. After Dreamhack, you would give the edge to Astralis. Astralis are our favourites to win this event, despite showing a small chink in the armour yesterday, being forced to OT in a best of one against NRG Gaming. Dupree and Device along with Gla1ve is just too good of a core of players to not go deep at this tournament. Mousesports may be able to win a map here if they are able to get Mirage, but, overall, Astralis are the better team.

Mousesports will be hoping that Astralis decides to allow them to have their map pick of Mirage at IEM Sydney so they can have some sort of edge against the current world number one. Unfortunately for Mouse, as long as Styko is on their roster, they will continue to struggle to beat strong line-ups. Mouse will need a strong team effort here in order to beat Astralis, but, it is an uphill battle before it begins.

BEST BET – Astralis -2.5 Map 2 Handicap @ $1.74/-135 on Pinnacle

Faze Clan v Grayhound Gaming

Yesterday was a good day for the Australian Counter Strike scene with both Renegades and Grayhound showing up against former world number ones. This time, Grayhound are here to pick at the remains Renegades left of Faze Clan. On a one for one skill player level – Faze are still the better side – despite Guardian and Gratisfaction being very close on current form. Faze still have the worlds best pure aimer in Niko and he will be a torment for Grayhound here.

Faze need this win bad to restore some confidence in this line-up and, with Xizt in rotation, they have looked very sub par. Grayhound are running hot right now after beating SK Gaming and deleting them from the tournament. Expectation against reality here – Faze will win here, and Grayhound will be competitive throughout.

BEST BET – Faze Clan -5.5 Map 1 Handicap @ $1.90/-110 on UNIBET

G2 v Fnatic

G2 may have dominated MVP.PK yesterday, but, they won’t be able to run amok on Fnatic. Fnatic with Krimz still guiding the show will be able to out duel and out class their French opponents today. The value on Fnatic is different across the board and G2 have seen quite a bit of money flow on them today after their round one showing – but, unless they are able to get their hands on Nuke or maybe even Inferno, Fnatic should be able to win this match outright. Although, dropping a map definitely wouldn’t surprise.

Krimz, Flusha and Lekr0 will be too much for a G2 side that is without a decent enough replacement for the loss of Shox.

BEST BET – Fnatic to win @ $1.72/-139 on UNIBET
