Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Kalgoorlie

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a good day yesterday, with multiple winners and missing the quaddie by half a head. We have a strong list of competitive races for the Kalgoorlie Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – TOM CULLEN MEMORIAL HANDICAP 1100m

Small field of runners here, with one horse that is in the upper echelon compared to the rest and gets the fish on board in Jason Whiting. Cosmic Eyes is coming in off the back of a dominating win at Kalgoorlie where it kicked away from the field early on and never relented. Expect to see a similar ride here again today. Cosmic Eyes should just be too good.

Top Pick – Cosmic Eyes

TOP PICK
Free Racing Tips

Race 2 – REECE PLUMBING KALGOORLIE MAIDEN 1400m

This race, things begin to get a lot more interesting at Kalgoorlie. Mitch Pateman has proved deadly over this distance at this track, and, has a horse that has been knocking on the door, but, just can’t seem to close it out. Let Me Pass gets the benefit of the doubt here and the form that Pateman is in, should be able to get the job done today. North Col is the next best here, and, is good value at the time of writing. Has shown good late speed and gets William Pike in the saddle, which is a big upgrade. This horse enjoys running near the back of the pack, a position where Pike does his best work. Expect a bold run. Value point in this race is with Polite Pass, who has been racing well under Lucy Warwick and the same should be expected again here today. Has the ability.

Top Pick – Let Me Pass
Next Best – North Col
Longshot – Polite Pass

TOP PICK
Kalgoorlie Punters Guide

Race 3 – COOLGARDIE TYRE SERVICE HANDICAP 1400m

William Pike will be hanging for this ride today. Nashville Cat has shown what it is capable of previously, but, has hit a bit of a winless purple patch over its last four starts, including a disappointing fifth last start. Against a less competitive field here today and will be given every chance to prove doubters wrong today. Top hope. Chhaya is one of the main dangers here. Jockey and horse have combined previously for a win at this track and distance, and are very close in getting back to that form here. Expected to go close again today. Value point in this race is back with Mitch Pateman who has a shot at the race to race double here on Omerta. Peter Fernie doesn’t put horses in a race that don’t have a reasonable shot at it, and, Omerta is at good value here and has the form as well as the form jockey. A win wouldn’t shock should Nashville Cat not find its best.

Top Pick – Nashville Cat
Next Best – Chhaya
Longshot – Omerta

Race 4 – TAPS INDUSTRIES HANDICAP 1200m

Indriel is one of the best hopes on the day for Lucy Warwick, and, with a field that is as open as this one – will have every chance here. Ran on strongly for a second at this track and distance last start, winner at track and distance previously and at its best – can beat this field. Little Hercules disappointed last start when finishing fifth, but, can do better here. This field is as open as it gets here today, all rate well, but, Little Hercules will get the run of the race and will just need to show a little more heart when running on today. Foxy Royale ran on well behind Cosmic Eyes last start, and, a run similar to that, can be good enough here. Good value at the time of writing, and, under Autier, can find its best.

Top Pick – Indriel
Next Best – Little Hercules
Longshot/Value – Foxy Royale

TOP PICK
kalgoorlie punters guide

Race 5 – SHIRE OF COOLGARDIE HANDICAP 1300m

Back on the Pateman train here with Where’s Wally saddling up for this one. Coming in fresh here, winner fresh previously and has shown that it can run fast at this distance. Drawn perfectly here and will be able to ride how it wants – most likely towards the back and will come home strong. Our Detention is the next best here with Willy Pike riding. Ran a strong second last start, but, distance looked a bit much, loses half a furlong here and will be better for it. Value point in the race here goes with A Bit Sketchy, who is second up here today, and, looked good firstup last race, but, will be fitter here. Can go close.

Top Pick – Where’s Wally
Next Best – Our Detention
Longshot – A Bit Sketchy

TOP PICK

Race 6 – HAHN ELECTRICL COOLGARDIE CUP 1760m

This race maps as an absolute quaddie killer with a number of real chances in the race. There are some real chances at value as well as a standout shorter. The top pick here though has to go with the in-form Friaresque, who is coming into this one on the back second and third respectively, and, with the extra distance given here today, can go better. Expect a bold run. Value point in this one has to go to Lucy Warwick and Rojo Calor. Strong second over this distance at this track with today’s jockey. Expected to go well again here. Oorah is a quality horse, and, is getting its chance again here today. Misfired last start as favourite, and, finds a slightly more challenging field then last. Has shown great turn of foot previously and has won at this distance and class previously. Win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Friaresque
Next Best – Rojo Calor
Longshot – Oorah

TOP PICK

Race 7 – MORAN’S STORE HANDICAP 1300m

The Durrant stables have taken a chance with Bollinger Boy here, targeting a race that is a significant drop in class, and will have William Pike on-board here. This duo map very well for this race and, on class, sectionals and distance, rate on top for this one. One to beat. Value point here could be with the ultra impressive Smartravella, who bolted home last start getting a gun run on the rail throughout. Drawn well again here and a win wouldn’t shock. Mitch Pateman rounds out the field here with Urquell, who hasn’t shown its best over last few races, a seventh and a sixth over last two, one can be forgiven with poor start and running in to traffic, other, just didn’t look interested in the race. Gets the benefit of the doubt here and gets a big upgrade in the saddle.

Top Pick – Bollinger Boy
Next Best – Smartravella
Longshot – Urquell

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Moonee Valley

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a break. We have a strong list of competitive races for the Moonee Valley Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – BIG SWING GOLF HANDICAP 1600m

Naantali may have disappointed a lot by not crossing the line first – but, it still can’t be taken away that it ran a good race, it just got out strategised coming down the straight. Today – the field doesn’t have that same type of top end speed that Miss Siska had when closing out the race last start, and that only strengthens the claims of Naantali here. Pleasuring is dropping in class here, and, at the Valley, you can never count a Weir trained horse out, especially with in-form apprentice, Ethan Brown in the saddle. Expect a bold run. Moscow Red is the value point in this race. Ran impressively last start when winning over a similar distance. Steps up slightly in class, but, is capable of a big run here. One to keep an eye on.

Top Pick – Naantali
Next Best – Pleasuring
Longshot/Value – Moscow Red

TOP PICK

Race 2 – HORSE GYM AUSTRALIA HANDICAP 1600m

Snitzepeg will be forgiven for last race here when running in to traffic, missing its opportunity and fading out of the race due to a poor in race decision. One of the more talented sprinters in the race, and, at its best, can run the closing sectionals required to win this. Dropping in class and, while the weight is a little more than you would like, has the ability here. Royal Ace steps up in class here today, but, is great value at current quote. Won last race and gets winning jockey from last effort today. The Weir/Rawiller duo can’t be overlooked here. Curragh comes back to Victoria after a little stint up in NSW, and, finds a beatable field here today. Drops in class, Julius gets the ride with claim and can be competitive here.

Top Pick – Snitzepeg
Next Best – Royal Ace
Longshot – Curragh

TOP PICK

Race 3 – 1PRINT HANDICAP 1500m

Despite there being a clear value on tote right now, this is one of the more open and competitive races of the day. Based on current form and finishing times, it is hard to look past the current tote favourite at time of writing in Approach Discreet. Winner of last two and won over seven furlongs and nine furlongs, has the ability to mix its distances, and, looks suited by seven and half here today. Will be hard to beat. Next best here is in the next form horse, being ridden by Luke Nolen in Muswellbrook. Muswellbrook won over this distance prior to spell, ran impressively first up at Flemington, and, finds a similar field here today that can be beaten. Expect a bold run here. Visao could be the value point here. Winner of last two starts, but, drawn wide and will need to work harder early. If drawn better, may have rated on top, but, still must be included here.

Top Pick – Approach Discreet
Next Best – Muswellbrook
Longshot – Visao

TOP PICK

Race 4 – HARROLDS HANDICAP 2040m

Yogi is beginning to warm up this prep, running on super impressively last start when grabbing second, only missing the win by a whisker against Plein Ceil. Finds a field that maps similar to last and will be missing that premier runner the last run had. Will be hard to beat here second up. Trap For Fools needs to be included after earning the right to be with impressive win last start. In the right class here at the right distance and retains winning jockey from last effort. Ticks a lot of boxes and will be one of the chances here. Pacodali disappointed last start, and, at current quote, must be included in the chances as it is a good value point when at its best. Has performed much stronger than last race and maps well for this one, weight is a concern, but, powerful gait can overcome this with claim from Ethan Brown riding.

Top Pick – Yogi
Next Best – Trap For Fools
Longshot – Pacodali

TOP PICK

Race 5 – MITTYS MCEWEN STAKES 1000m

Not much needs to be said about this race, Nature Strip is the horse of the moment, in a small field over the trip that suits, everything is pointing in the right direction here for the Nicconi gelding that is putting it all together now. Of the runners that stand a chance to topple the top pick, Shoals is one of those, but, after Shoals, there isn’t any that have the top end speed that can match the top pick. If in this small field Nature Strip does happen to hit trouble – Qullista is another that could capitalise, but, will need a lot of luck.

Top Pick – Nature Strip
Next Best – Shoals
Longshot – Quillista

TOP PICK

Race 6 – LADBROKES ATLANTIC JEWEL STAKES 1200m

Thrillster can capitalise here second up today. Has shown good speed when first up last run when grabbing third, second up here today and strips fitter for it. Winner at distance and has placed at track previously. Has the ability here. The class dropper Spanish Whisperer is hard to discount here. First up, winner first up previously and coming back after 182 days on the sidelines. Fresh record hard to look past. Assertive Play has not been away from the track for too long (70-days), and, is unbeaten first up like others. With residual fitness here, can surprise. Expect a bold run with Williams in the saddle.

Top Pick – Thrillster
Next Best – Spanish Whisperer
Longshot – Assertive Play

TOP PICK

Race 7 – STRATHMORE BENDIGO BANK STAKES 1200m

Land Of Plenty gets the nod here, second up and fitter for last effort when running on strong to get second. At the right distance here, gets a jockey change and runs one kilogram lighter here. Will be hard to keep out. Mr.Sneaky is one that we have followed here at Bet Chimps for a while, and, is second up here today over its peak distance, however, second-up, Mr.Sneaky has always fallen a little flat. Taking here in this race in hope that it has figured out second up. Iconoclasm could be the value point, while not at double digits, is one of those horses that when it turns up – it can run with the best of them. Finishing third first-up, unbeaten second-up though, and, will be able to compete here today coming in light.

Top Pick – Land Of Plenty
Next Best – Mr.Sneaky
Longshot/Value – Iconoclasm

TOP PICK

Race 8 – DATO’ TAN CHIN NAM STAKES 1600m

Night’s Watch was impressive when running on strong this time last week against a similar group of runners. Will have a couple more talented in this field though. This horse has shown great turn of foot and this distance is optimal today. Expected to be among the winners. Hartnell can’t be discredited when fighting on gamely on the rail last start and pushing for a minor. Really tough and gritty performance and, anything similar to that could be enough here. Bonneval can’t be overlooked here either. Impressive winner at Caulfield when beating Hartnell last year, first-up today after almost a year away from racing. Great first-up record and a win wouldn’t shock today.

Top Pick – Night’s Watch
Next Best – Hartnell
Longshot – Bonneval

TOP PICK

Race 9 – POWERFLO SOLUTIONS CRAIG OPIE CUP 1600m

This can be considered the most difficult leg of the quadrella here. Such an open race here with a good handful of horses that have legitimate claims. The Dunn combination here though on Divine Unicorn, is too hard to look past. Impressive winner first-up and has a 50% strike rate when second up (2 1-1). Coming to Moonee Valley for the first time could be a query here, but, has the ability. Moss’N’Dale is the next here that can’t be discredited. Last run third was impressive on the straight when fighting on gamely. Would have preferred a little more distance here than eight furlongs, but, must be included here. John Allen brought out the best in Gallic Chieftain when winning the only time he has been in the saddle. Returns here today, as the top weighted runner, however dropping in class more than makes up for the weight, which isn’t overly great. Distance is a question mark, as Gallic Chieftain has shown its best at ten or more furlongs. However, fresh here and will be right in this one.

Top Pick – Divine Unicorn
Next Best – Miss’N’Dale
Longshot – Gallic Chieftain

TOP PICK

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Townsville

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a break yesterday. We have a few competitive races in Townsville Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – HYGAIN RELEASE QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1000m

Our Alicia’s Lane is the best of the day here at Townsville. Gets winning jockey Sam Sheargold back in the saddle and is running over favourable track and distance. At this distance, weight and class, Our Alicia’s Lane has run just over one second faster than the next best in the race You Know The One. One of the more progressive types at Townsville today, will be an uptempo race here which suits Our Alicia’s Lane. Should be under evens closer to the jump.

Top Pick – Our Alicia’s Lane
No next best – No third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 2 – UBET MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m

Lucky Connection could start the day well for favourite backers here, as Chris Whiteley returns for the mount and this horse ran an impressive second over this trip last attempt against a stronger field. Last start ran on gamely behind Fox Street and, with a bit more luck, can go better here. Strong contender here is in the Bel Danoro runner, Daesy Danoro. Ran a strong third in first up effort last up and, the aged maiden can finally break that here against a beatable field.

Top Pick – Lucky Connection
Next Best – Daesy Danoro
No third pick – No third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 3 – LAZY YAK OPEN HANDICAP 1200m

First of the truly open races here today at Townsville, and, it maps as a two horse race with two standouts. Nathan Day has a great record at this track, and, he will be looking to complete the favourite hattrick at this rate. However, Adam Spinks and Blazing Steel have too good of a connection to look past. Impressive last start winning duo over distance and track. The Smart Missile gelding has been on the up and can string two wins together here. Septimo is the clear danger here, and, is progressing well with a flashy fourth last start. Would be happier to take Septimo is this was over seven and half furlongs, which maps a bit more suitable, shown good late speed but, will need to be at its best to top Blazing Steel.

Top Pick – Blazing Steel
Next Best – Septimo
No third pick – No third dividend

TOP PICK

Race 4 – SKY RACING BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1609m

Chelsea Jokic has big upset potential here on Donavia, who steps up sharply in grade here, but, is every chance to win this. Winner at distance and placed last start, but, was impressive in doing so when carrying 61.5Kgs. Expected to run well again today and represents great value. Forgive Me can’t be overlooked here either, another one of the top rides of the day for Adam Spinks and, can find its best here today. Zumari may be 8-years-old, but, has been its most competitive over this distance, and recent form would suggest that it is due to hit the line hard if it stays true to its own form. Must be included.

Top Pick – Donavia
Next Best – Forgive Me
Longshot – Zumari

TOP PICK

Race 5 – MATER HEALTH SERVICES BENCHMARK 70 1400m

Sonja Wiseman has her best chance of the day here on Party Pies. Impressive winner last start at big odds over track and distance and will be running light again with winning jockey from that ride. Hard to beat. Next best here is Better Future being ridden by Danny Edmonds. Last race can be forgiven when running out of hits depth and copping interference. Drops in class here today, and, will be better for it. Distance, class and track all suit here. Peter Cullen and Lokum could be the value in this race, currently at $6 at time of writing, has shown enough recently to suggest that it will be up to the task here. Drawn well, and, in this smaller field, will have every chance.

Top Pick – Party Pies
Next Best – Better Future
Longshot – Lokum

TOP PICK

Race 6 – TOWNSVILLE JAGUAR LAND ROVER BM 65 1000m

Binaconi has produced some great sprinters, The Flash One is certainly not one of those, but, it has produced some great sprints over its last two runs. Getting an upgrade in the saddle today, over a favourable distance at track it has come close at previously brightens the prospects. One of the top chances here. Disappointed with the extra furlong last up, stepping back to the five furlongs here today, and, Sam Sheargold and Mongole Fire will have every chance to show sharp improvement here today. Beatbale field and can get back in the winners circle here. Freeze’N’Tease needs to be included here. Dropping in class slightly, disappointing at the six furlongs, so, being dropped back to the five furlongs here, won at this trip and track last effort with today’s jockey. Expect a bold run.

Top Pick – The Flash One
Next Best – Mongole Fire
Longshot/Value – Freeze’N’Tease

TOP PICK

Race 7 – WEDDING VENUES TTC CLASS 2 1200m

Feringo has been placed in this race by connections with no other thought than, this horse will win this race. Dropping in class significantly, getting form jockey, Justin Stanley in the saddle and is second up today after a good run firstup over track and distance. Looks the one to beat here on form and class. Rising King is the next best here. Winner at track, winner at distance, but, yet to fire at class, today could be the day as it is in good order and is ready to peak here. David Simmons has the value runner here in Aztec Warrior. Strong performer over the track, and, has won at this distance previously. Last race win over the five furlongs, and, looked like it could have kept going. Definite chance here.

Top Pick – Feringo
Next Best – Rising King
Longshot – Aztec Warrior

TOP PICK

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Mudgee

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a big day yesterday at Morphettville – hitting multiple winners and the double. We have a few competitive races at Mudgee today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – CLUB MUDGEE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m

Humboldt is the form horse here, with Lonhro lineage. Distance is optimal as well as the field. Mitchell Bell rides today, only strengthening claims here. One to beat. Bella Pronto can’t be overlooked, jockey Greg Ryan is in outstanding form on the provincial tracks and looks well placed again here with the talented Bella Pronto. Chad Lever and Garros are the best of the rest here. Ran strongly just missing a win before spell, trialed well enough to suggest it is ready today. One to watch.

Top Pick – Humboldt
Next Best – Bella Pronto
Longshot – Garros

TOP PICK

Race 2 – ORIENTAL & WOOLPACK HOTELS CLASS 2 1200m

La Pont should be too good here. Dropping significantly in class, and, not receiving a large penalty for doing so only carrying 60.5kgs. Has the ability and gets Gibbons in the saddle, could be hard to keep out here. Tony’s Reward is drawn well here, has form jockey Greg Ryan and has shown great sectional speed in races leading up to this. Winner at the distance twice on five runs and adding a third here wouldn’t surprise. The value runner in this race could prove to be Harry New Shoes, good form line, not doing worse than second over last four runs and will be there abouts again. At its best, it can beat this field.

Top Pick – La Pont
Next best – Tony’s Reward
Longshot/Value – Harry New Shoes

TOP PICK

Race 3 – PARAGON HOTEL BM 58 HANDICAP 1200m

One Invincible Cat is the one to be on here. Last start was an very, very impressive win, retains jockey from that ride today, and, a repeat of that effort can be expected. This is an extremely talented horse and, maps nicely against this field. Snitzagirl is a clear danger to the top pick here. Has shown incredible closing speed previously and last start win was very eye catching. Has its work cut out for it today, but, can steal this one. Two starts back at Cowan, Atum was an eye catching winner, since then, dropped off last tow races in non-competitive fashion, gets a shot at redemption here and the in-form apprentice Robbie Dolan has the ride. Win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – One Invincible Cat
Next Best – Snitzagirl
Longshot – Atum

TOP PICK

Race 4 – KELLYS IRISH PUB CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1400m

Western Parade is one that stands out here. Impressive during third first-up last jump and, has shown equally good closing speed. Comes in nicely at the weights here today, getting a good edge on the odds on favourite here. Can get over nicely and hold its own here. Abberation can’t be denied here, best ride of the day for Chad Lever, who has stepped up his game of late. Winner at distance, but, untested at class. Has the ability. Black Platinum hasn’t won for quite some time, over twelve months to be precise, and, despite that lack of winning form, does map well for this race. Drawn the rail for a gun run, and, will look to get in the lead and dictate the pace, if Dolan can do this – could be hard to track down.

Top Pick – Western Parade
Next Best – Aberration
Longshot – Black Platinum

TOP PICK

Race 5 – 99 ON MORTIMER MAIDEN PLATE 1400m

Probably one of the harder races of the day here. The current favourite Helsun was just so disappointing on debut, that, it shouldn’t not be anywhere near as short as it is today – especially against a more competitive field. The one that does catch the eye here in the Michael Cahill ride in Our Celtic Star. The Star Witness gelding has the speed to close this one out, has drawn the rail and will be able to race as it chooses. Has the ability here. Silk Topper must be included here, in what is an extremely open race. Knocking on the door over its last two starts, Silk Topper enjoys the distance and will be right there again. Value here could be in the Bobby El-Issa ride, Miss Breffni. Strips fitter after rider two weeks ago, has been close previously and has the ability. A win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Our Celtic Star
Next Best – Silk Topper
Longshot – Miss Breffni

TOP PICK

Race 6 – XXXX GOLD MUDGEE MUG 1400m

Go The Gantry has shown enough that it is the one to beat here. Greg Ryan takes the ride here and has drawn a little wide, but, Go The Gantry has the early speed to overcome this. Expected to run on strongly here and is the one to beat. Jamie Gibbons has her best ride of the day here on A Magic Zariz. In equal company todya, and won at this class and distance previously, drawn well and has claims here. Legistation can’t be overlooked here today. Multiple winner over this distance against better competition at city tracks as well. Steps back here from those wins and is looking to regain some form after trying to run at shorter trips that didn’t suit. One of the chances here.

Top Pick – Go The Gantry
Next Best – A Magic Zariz
Longshot – Legistation

TOP PICK

Race 7 – RYLSTONE HOTEL BM 58 HANDICAP 1600m

African Guy was extremely disappointing last start, and, as such, the trainers have decided to drop the class and put the gelding at a favourable distance. Needs to run better today, and, will have every chance against this field. Rates well. Cuban Lass has run a few times over the last few weeks and, can only be better for it. Drops significantly in class here today and has every chance to get that win the old mare is hunting for. Will be right in this one. Not For Export is another that missed its chance as a favourite not too long ago, and the trainers are dropping it sharply in class here today. Has the ability here and a win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – African Guy
Next Best – Cuban Lass
Longshot/Value – Not For Export

TOP PICK
