Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Toowoomba

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia (Toowoomba Punters Guide)

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a good day yesterday, with multiple winners (4/7 top picks including a $9 winner in Madam Shazma as well as a $9.18 double up). We have a strong list of competitive races for the Toowoomba Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – ITHINK PROPERTY 3YO CLASS 1 PLATE 1210m

Small field of runners here, and, the value in this race lies in the debut winner, Welcome Nugget. Skye Bogenhuber has had a bit of a purple patch of late, but, gets one of the best rides of the day first up and won’t want to squander this chance. The distance suits Welcome Nugget, who scored on debut over the five furlongs, but, looked hungry for more, gets that today and is in good order.

Top Pick – Welcome Nugget
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 2 – WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS MAIDEN 870m

Beau Appo has the ride in this maiden with a debutant that has been talked about a bit through racing circles out that way from the Kemp stables. Awesome Katie has drawn a little wider than would be preferred, but, is in a favourable race that doesn’t feature a great deal of work and can just come out of the gate and let loose. Supposedly has a great deal of speed and a debut win wouldn’t be a surprise. Another unseen runner here in Yazzi Jean could be a value point in this race. Hannah English is riding well at the moment, and always does well at Toowoomba. Drawn well and is another that could win here – but, top pick preferred.

Top Pick – Awesome Katie
Next Best – Yazzi Jean

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 3 – ROCK TRADE INDUSTRIES CL4 HANDICAP 1300m

Leah Kilner may be an apprentice, but, she is certainly a jockey to keep an eye on, and, today, she has one of her best rides early on in Mishani Shiraz. Dropping in class significantly, distance suits and won’t have to work too much to get across in this small field. Winner at distance and placed in only effort at this class. One to beat here. Can’t overlook Boiling either. Stepping up slightly in class, won at distance previously, but, not really been competitive at this class. Will need to make the leap today.

Top Pick – Mishani Shiraz
Next Best – Boiling

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 4 – COCA COLA AMATIL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300m

This race maps as a pretty one sided affair with the short listed Tony’s Decree being the standout horse, and drawing perfectly for the race. Currently trading at sub $1.30, this race doesn’t present any value as this horse is a cut above the rest.

Top Pick – Tony’s Decree
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 5 – PRYDE’S EASIFEED CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1640m

The Showman hasn’t won since breaking its maiden this year, but, finds a beatable field here, and, Beau Appo will be looking to break his duck on the horse as well, riding twice for a second and a third. Small field, and drawn inside over a favourable distance. Ticks boxes today and should be right in it. On A High can’t be overlooked either. Progressive type that has been knocking on the door since returning from spell, has the improving Emily Ljung in the saddle and will be competitive throughout. Value point in this one will be in the Yoshida ride, Bernie’s Tiger. Steps up slightly in class today, Yoshida has yet to return a result lower than third in three rides, including a win a win a track and distance. Expect a bold run.

Top Pick – The Showman
Next Best – On A High
Longshot/Value – Bernie’s Tiger

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 6 – TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS BM65 HANDICAP 1210m

Stormy Grey was running out of its depths last start and the result proved it. Today, it drops back to a favourable class, distance and a field that doesn’t really have any true speed up front, allowing Stormy Grey to run a little off the pace and enjoy cover. Race before last, ran over this class, and won by 0.5L against a stronger field of runners. Maps well here and a win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Stormy Grey
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 7 – HELLO HARRY BM70 HANDICAP 1050m

Another short field of runners here today, with two real standouts that the market currently reflects at the time of writing. Viceman drops slightly in grade today, and has a slight edge over Captain Leo at this range. Closing sectionals favour Viceman in this race, who retains winning jockey from last effort and is yet to lose a race in this class. One to beat here.

Top Pick – Viceman
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Toowoomba Punters Guide

Race 8 – PRO-CLEAR CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000m

Fionnlagh was super impressive winning last start and under Leah Kilner has a good chance to repeat that success. Stepping up slightly in class today, but, the surrounding runners are not overly impressive, and suggest that Fionnlagh has a slight edge despite the increase. Carrying the top weight here, but, it isn’t enough to be concerned about. Major concern is the wide barrier draw, but, has enough early speed to get behind the lead horses. Not much room for error over such a short trip, but, rates highly here. Mister Spinks and Matthew Hellyer can’t be overlooked here. Been knocking on the door since returning from spell and is going to be competitive again. Big Dan The Man was impressive when second up last time out, and, is coming in second up here today. Beau Appo has a history of striking late at big odds at this track, and a win wouldn’t shock here.

Top Pick – Fionnlagh
Next Best – Mister Spinks
Longshot – Big Dan The Man

The Punters Guide returns after a good day yesterday, with multiple winners. We have a strong list of competitive races for the Swan Hill Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL 3YO 1600m

Baccarat Baby is the form horse of this race, Hellyer has won three form three rides on this Casino Prince filly, is at a good distance that it has won its only appearance at. Had a good trial in the lead up to this race and will be hard to beat again. One of the top for the day.

Top Pick – Baccarat Baby
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Doomben Punters Guide

Race 2 – BENTLEYS CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS 2200m

Yesterday, the winner of this race looked like Raqeeq, however, as an early scratching this morning, the door has been opened wide to a handful in this race. Sir Barnabus gets the most benefit our of this early scratching. Ran impressively to grab third over last two trips at eleven furlongs, gets Cahill returning to the saddle again here today and will be hitting the line hard. One to beat. Exoteric is the next best here, experienced journeyman over the trip, with a handful of wins in the process. At its best, will beat this field, but, is very hit and miss on the track. Drops in class for a slight edge, but, will need some luck today. Sky One could be the value point in this one. Ran a strong minor over this trip, has hit a bit of a purple patch, but, McGillivray knows how to bring home a wide odds runner and he has that here. Expect a bold run.

Top Pick – Sir Barnabus
Next Best – Exoteric
Longshot – Sky One

TOP PICK
Doomben Punters Guide

Race 3 – VAE GROUP CLASS 6 PLATE 1200m

The Mechanic just seems to have clicked after its spell, running a poor race, then second-up has been lights out since. Jeff Lloyd seems to bring the best out of this horse, and, is running light today, and makes a small drop in class on last race. This field grades lower than the last and the late speed is with The Mechanic. Expect a bold run. Mathew Cahill gets his ride on Jungilized again here, who turned in an eye catching run last up at Canterbury. Expected to run on the pace here and, the red silk will be hard to miss here. True chance. Good Time Charlie is a good value point in this race, coming in on the back of two minors in two runs since spell, and, has shown great late speed. Will need some luck to beat the top pick here today, but, a win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – The Mechanic
Next Best – Jungilized
Longshot – Good Time Charlie

TOP PICK
Doomben Punters Guide

Race 4 – ROSTRON CARLYLE ROJAS HANDICAP 1200m

Since returning from a spell, Tversky has put in a strong body of work, bagging the hat-trick and all races against much better fields than what today offers. However, these smaller fields are always much trickier as it becomes more about strategy than it does the horses ability. Tversky retaining Smith here is a big tick in the right box and the duo will prove very hard to beat here. Main danger will be in Niccanova, but, Tversky is just too good right now.

Top Pick – Tversky
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Doomben Punters Guide

Race 5 – JLL PROPTECH CLASS 3 PLATE 1350m

Francisca has drawn awkwardly here, but, won’t push hard to get to the front, will instead look to slot over midfield and not get caught wide. Form line has been strong since returning from spell, not doing worse than third over three races, including a strong win two back. Winner at track and distance previously and gets the in-form Queensland jockey Ryan Maloney onboard here today. Expect a bold showing. Miss Quaintly can’t be ignored here as the young filly drops in class, runs very light and is coming in on the back of a super impressive win. Can go close with another effort like last. The Sepoy gelding, Raise An Army can’t be overlooked either. Ran well prior to spell, is first up here today, and runs well when fresh. Expected to be on of the chances, especially off the inside draw.

Top Pick – Francsica
Next best – Miss Quaintly
Longshot – Raise An Army

TOP PICK
Doomben Punters Guide

Race 6 – HERRON TODD WHITE HANDICAP 1050m

Ryan Wiggins combines with Bold Xavvi here, in what is a favourable race. Handy type that rarely runs a bad race, and, despite drawing awkwardly here today, will push forward and try to run with the lead horses. Race maps as an uptempo one and suits Bold Xavvi when it gets quicker. One to beat. Goldfinch can’t be overlooked either. First-up after a spell here and can go on with it today. Panya returns for the ride today, and these two have combined to beat better fields than today’s. Expect a bold run. The value point in this race is with National Trail, who has run in good form, and can test these here today.

Top Pick – Bold Xavvi
Next Best – Goldfinch
Longshot – National Trail

TOP PICK
Doomben Punters Guide

Race 7 – KESTREL SOLUTIONS HANDICAP 1600m

Prioritise is one to lookout for here, coming in on the back of two dominating wins, that could have been by more lengths had the foot not been taken off the pedal. Distance is right and this field lacks the top end speed to compete with Prioritise here. One to beat. Order Again can’t be overlooked here. Another of the form horses in this race, yet to do worse than second since spell, including a win first-up. Drawn tricky, but, will have the chance to ride midfield and turn the corner fast. Top chance. Value point in this race sits with Jaminzah, who has shown its best a handful of runs ago. Winner at distance, trialed well in the lead-up to today, and a win wouldn’t shock.

Top Pick – Prioritise
Next Best – Order Again
Longshot – Jaminzah

TOP PICK
Doomben Punters Guide

Race 8 – GADENS LAWYERS BM85 HANDICAP 1650m

Backslapper is one to not overlook today. Winner at distance, run on strong before, and will be looking to replicate prior success had over distance. Drawn well, gets Gallagher returning today, who turned in a strong second last start at Ipswich and may have won with the extra distance today is offering. True chance. Courtza King is the next best here. Form lines are strong leading into this one, doing fourth as worst over last four starts. Distance suits, and gets winning jockey back in saddle over optimal distance. Expect a bold run. Current trading favourite is expected to drift by race time, and, could be a value point. Has run well over the distance, including three wins from twelve goes. Reach For Heaven will get its chance today.

Top Pick – Backslapper
Next Best – Courtza Kings
Longshot/Value – Reach For Heaven

TOP PICK
Doomben Punters Guide

Race 9 – SURF LIFE SAVING BM70 HANDICAP 1600m

Madam Shazam chases four on the trot today, and, getting the gun draw on the rail, there is nothing to suggest that Sebring mare can’t do it. Ryan Maloney has the ride, and gets the edge dropping in class and running lighter than expected. Has work to do to win this, but, has the ability to win. Red Colour was robbed last start when having the win taken away on the post, will look to roll forward from the awkward barrier draw and will pressure for the lead. If Red Colour can get to the front and dictate the pace, it could pull of the win here today. Talented runner that needs a bit of luck. Value point in this one could be Foxy Affair, while not at huge odds at time of writing, at odds decent enough to suggest a competitive race. Gets winning jockey onboard from last effort over a similar distance. Will take holding out.

Top Pick – Madam Shazam
Next Best – Red Colour
Longshot/Value – Foxy Affair

TOP PICK

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Swan Hill

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a good day yesterday, with multiple winners. We have a strong list of competitive races for the Swan Hill Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – SHJC BECOME AN 18/19 MEMBER MAIDEN 1600m

Despite there being no value in this runner, the best in the race is Savoie. Dean Yendall and D.K.Weir combine here for what maps as an early winner for this potent duo. Others in the race to keep an eye on are the talented Badge Of Honour and Mango Delight, who both can hit the line hard.

Top Pick – Savoie
Next best – Badge Of Honour
Longshot – Mango Delight

TOP PICK
Swan Hill Punters guide

Race 2 – BET365 3YO MAIDEN PLATE 1200m

Dean Yendall and D.K.Weir are looking to do Yendall and Weir things early on here at Swan Hill with another top rated runner up again here in the second. Kaplumpich was running well before a spell with back to back seconds, and today has a chance at getting that elusive win here in a weaker field than last start. One to beat. No Emotion and John Allen are another to look out for in this one, trained well in the lead up to this one and is ready to go. Win wouldn’t shock. Grande Marengo with Jake Noonan in the saddle is another at odds that will be right in this race. If Yendall can’t get the favourite to fire up fresh – Grande Marengo will be there to take advantage.

Top Pick – Kaplumpich
Next Best – No Emotion
Longshot – Grande Marengo

TOP PICK
Swan Hill Punters Guide

Race 3 – HYGAIN MAIDEN PLATE 1200m

Carbone put in some ordinary trials, but, there was one that stood out, when not asked to do much and finishing ahead of the rest. Draws well here in this race and will be able to roll forward. Untested over this range, but, has looked more than capable. Top chance. Sentimentalist is the next best here. Coming in fresh after a spell, and has placed on both first-up efforts previously. Has shown a good turn of foot and a win wouldn’t surprise here. Dean Yendall could be on course for an early hat-trick here on the unrated Sky Lace. Sky Lace is one of those horses that had a middle of the road trial, but, wasn’t really asked to do much when finishing fourth. Needs to be included here.

Top Pick – Carbone
Next Best – Sentimentalist
Longshot – Sky Lace

TOP PICK
Swan Hill Punters Guide

Race 4 – MURRAY DOWNS GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB 2100m

Ameriwin and Linda Meech combined well for a strong win last start, and, the duo look primed again here today. Small field and will do well to avoid trouble. Showed a good turn of foot last start when fighting on strong for the win. Danger horse is definitely Hifranc, but, in this small field, Ameriwin should be more than capable of capitralising.

Top Pick – Ameriwin
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Swan Hill Punters Guide

Race 5 – THE BOTTLE O SWAN HILL BM58 975m

Dean Holland has one of the top rated rides here today in this race in Stolen Time. Coming in here with good form behind it, the Time Thief mare may finally be hitting her stride here at the age of six. Distance suits here and is one of the top chances. Liam Riordan has the next best here in Va Bene Amore. Struggling for form at the moment, but, three of four career wins were at this distance and time ratings map well here. Win wouldn’t shock. Aldo’s Gold drops in class here today and is going to be riding just off the lead horses. Will be a stalker in this race and has struck against this class and distance previously.

Top Pick – Stolen Time
Next Best – Va Bene Amore
Longshot – Aldo’s Gold

TOP PICK
Swan Hill Punters Guide

Race 6 – POOLES ACCOUNTANTS BM58 HANDICAP 1600m

One of the top weighters here will have a good chance at winning this race. Michael Poy and Set The Bar High have drawn well, will look to roll forward and sit with the lead pack. Poy will look for cover throughout and , if he can get it – it will increase the chances of winning here. Will need help, but, has the ability. Savvy Star is the next best here. Another combination of Yendall and Weir here, who could be in for a good day at Swan Hill. Savvy Star comes in on the back of a nice third at track and distance last start and, with that experience, Yendall and Savvy Star will be able to go better here. Mywordsaidthebird drops slightly in class, but, has every chance again here today. Strong third last start, winner at distance and class. Win wouldn’t surprise here.

Top Pick – Set The Bar High
Next Best – Savvy Star
Longshot/Value – Mywordisthebird

TOP PICK

Race 7 – MANANGATANG CUP 13TH OCTOBER BM58 1200m

Stylish Missile is hard to look past here despite the short quote. Drops in class on the back of a very impressive second at Donald. Expected to go better here against this field of runners. One to beat. Linda Meech returns to ride Captain California, who she rode in for a strong second last start, carries the same weight here as last race, and, will be fitter second up here. True chance. Michael Poy and D.K.Weir combine for a value point in this race with Cheeky Reward, who’s name could be what its backers receive. Slight drop in class from last race, where it wasn’t suited by the speed, comes into this one better for the drop and can surprise here.

Top Pick – Stylish Missile
Next Best – Captain California
Longshot/Value – Cheeky Reward

TOP PICK
Swan Hill Punters Guide

Race 8 – TAC BE RACES READY BM64 HANDICAP 1300m

Linda Meech will be looking to close out the day here at Swan Hill on the very impressive Yulong January. Very eye catching win on debut last start, stepping up in class but will be more than capable to handle it here. Distance suits and drawn well. Ticks a lot of boxes. The Lohnro gelding, Snipes is a danger horse here, running fresh with Daniel Staeck in the saddle maps very well here. Drops slightly in grade from last ride, but, is first up here today after a spell, yet to win first up – but today could be the day. Pretty Mama is the value point in this race with fresh legs and a strong gait. Awkward barrier draw, but, can overcome this early on with good speed. One of the chances.

Top Pick – Yulong January
Next Best – Snipers
Longshot – Pretty Mama

Bet Chimps Punters Guide – Rockhampton

Newcastle jockey Robert Thorton - by Citrus Zest via Wikimedia (Rockhampton Punters Guide)

By Citrus Zest [Creative Commons], via Wikimedia Commons

The Punters Guide returns after a good day yesterday, with multiple winners. We have a strong list of competitive races for the Rockhampton Punters Guide today – lets pick the diamonds from the quartz. Our last guide can be found HERE

Race 1 – RJC- CELEBRATING 150 YEARS RACING 1800m

Aloofs Turf won impressively when swooping late last race, finds a similar field here today, and, retains winning jockey from last ride. Last race was over this distance at this track and looks primed for a repeat performance again here today. Extra Cover looks poised for a big race, but, Aloofs Turf will be up to task.

Top Pick – Aloof’s Turf
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Rockhampton Punters Guide

Race 2 – CENTRAL PARK MOTEL 3YO HANDICAP 1200m

The last time The Tax Accountant ran out, it was a dominating victory. We were on The Tax Accountant first up last start and we are going to be on again here despite there being another horse that can be competitive here in Our Top Shelf. However, The Tax Accountant gets Justin Stanley back in the saddle after the last ride, and, will have every chance to get that back-to-back streak going here against a small field that lacks the top end speed that The Tax Accountant showed over the final furlong last start. Best of the day at Rockhampton – unfortunately, the bookmakers know this too and there is not value this time around.

Top Pick – The Tax Accountant
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Rockhampton Punters Guide

Race 3 – BILL REID RACING CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1400m

Another small field, and, it is one that class dropper All Eez should be able to take advantage of. Running at a respectable weight in this one, and, has shown great turn of foot. The seven furlongs suits here, and All Eez has saluted at this track on one attempt previously. Expect another bold showing again here today. Craiglea Cetina is another class dropper that could cause some issues for the top pick, but, will need some luck to get up here.

Top Pick – All Eez
No next best – No Third Dividend

TOP PICK
Rockhampton Punters Guide

Race 4 – NICK DALEY PLUMBING CLASS 6 1200m

Nathan Day gets his best ride in a while here on Chief Advocate, who has drawn well, is a winner at this track and distance, but yet to fire at this class. Finds a beatable field here today and has been very consistent since its win three starts back, following it up with an impressive second and a third. Main danger here is The Baker, who has a good career record, but, can be hit and miss at times. Stay with consistency, and that is Chief Advocate.

Top Pick – Chief Advocate
No next best – No Third Divdend

TOP PICK
rockhampton punters guide

Race 5 – CHAMP RESOURCES MAIDEN PLATE 1400m

Whoosh ran impressively last start, and, looked like that with a little more leg room – would have gone on to win. Has shown improvement, and the extra half furlong will be welcomed today. Drawn well on the rail and should be able to get cover throughout and has a late speed edge over the favourite. Top chance. Colorado River disappointed last start when dropping off quickly on the straight. Should be fitter for that effort here today and can go close. Bel Sands could be the value point in this race. Shown great improvement since spell, when running on gamely for third with today’s jockey. Hasn’t shown its best yet, but, today could be the day.

Top Pick – Whoosh
Next Best – Colorado River
Longshot – Bel Sands

TOP PICK
Rockhampton Punters Guide

Race 6 – GERRARDS HORSE&HOUND AWARDS 15 SEP 1050m

Blazeray has been put in a race with favourable conditions where nothing other than a win will be acceptable. A lot of pressure on the shoulders of Les Tilley in this one, especially after Blzaeray’s last disappointing effort. Drawn well against a weaker field of runners and gets its chance today. Odds aren’t worth the risk however, as this horse can go absent. Rapt In Black is the danger horse here, much like the top pick, has won at distance, and track, but, is very hit and miss. Can run a big race, or disappear completely, very high ceiling and very low floor. At its best, can be competitive.

Top Pick – Blazeray
Next Best – Rapt In Black
Longshot – Coral Seas

TOP PICK
Rockhampton Punters Guide

Race 7 – MILNE BROS 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1200m

Nasty Gal has been knocking on the door over its last few starts, gets the awkward gate today, but, has the early speed to overcome this, however, will be more suited to dropping back midfield and getting cover. Expecting better here, and, based on sectionals should be able to push through and put the climax on on the 4,3,2 run. Margo Maree is the next best here. Has been there abouts over the last handful of starts and is going to be in the mix again here. Another awkward draw, but has the edge dropping in class. The value point here is A Little Bit More. Has run well in the past and was a winner two starts back. Expected to run well again today and is currently trading at good value at the time of writing.

Top Pick – Nasty Gal
Next Best – Margo Maree
Longshot – A Little Bit More
